Jinx's Powers

Probability Manipulation: Jinx has the ability of probability control, or manipulation over luck or - in Jinx's case - bad luck. Jinx is described as an enchanting sorceress who wields the power of bad luck, which manifests as pink, lightning-like energy blasts/waves fired from her hands. Jinx's powers portray a manipulation of probability, or more specifically, the ability to "jinx" her enemies, hence her name. How she does this has never been explored in the series. When she is not shooting waves of energy her eyes glow a bright pink instead, and can make structures crumble. In early episodes, it was thought that her powers were magical in nature; however, in later episodes, she is seen exhibiting her powers as a free flow output through her brain, common for most psionics. When she wants her enemies to be "jinxed," she mostly uses her energy waves to disrupt solid structures in her surroundings, though other effects are also possible, such as tidal waves. Her bad-luck energy can also serve a direct offensive role as concussive blasts. As shown in the Teen Titans Go! issue #1, her powers cannot bypass Raven's dark-energy shields. Abilities Master Acrobat: Jinx is also an accomplished gymnast, capable of dodging beam-bursts, starbolts, and pillars of stone telekinetically launched at her with ease. Hand-To-Hand Combat: She also excels at hand to hand combat. She is not as experienced as the other Titans, but she was able to hold her own against Raven. Most of it was probably learned at H.I.V.E. Academy.

Jinx's Appearance

Jinx has pale grey-white skin, pink blush marks on her cheeks, and pink eyes with cat-like pupils. Her hair is pink, horseshoe-shaped, curving outward at the tips, and sectioned off with metallic black bands near the top of her head.

She wears a short, black, long-sleeved dress with a jagged trim and a jagged, violet collar that covers her shoulders. She also wears black-and-violet striped leggings underneath her dress, black high-heeled platform boots with violet soles, and a black choker with a violet charm.

Jinx's Personality

During her time with the H.I.V.E., Jinx had proven herself to be a very ambitious go-getter with a somewhat of a mean streak. Because of her goals to rise among the ranks of villains, she tries her best to be an effective H.I.V.E. member under both its regimes. Far more mature, focused, and controlled than her male teammates, Jinx has proven to be a largely capable and determined (if subconsciously insecure) leader. She also idolized Madame Rouge of the Brotherhood of Evil, before Kid Flash stepped in to change her mind. Jinx is also strong in her own personality, though, even directly assaulting Rouge and releasing Kid Flash when Rouge taunted and mocked her, deeming her a pathetic failure and an embarrassment. At first, Jinx appears to be quiet, mean, mysterious, often speaking in whispers, and sometimes depicted as rather crazy because of the evil, crooked grin she usually wore when battling. However, in "Lightspeed", we see a more determined, outspoken, and more sane Jinx who wanted to be respected and not shunned because of her bad-luck powers. In this episode she gets frustrated and emotional. Kid Flash helped Jinx show her real personality, and how she feels about certain things. Generally, however, despite her habitual dark looks she is a very fashion-conscious girl, more intent on hunting for interesting attires and accessories rather than getting rich. Furthermore, she is characterized as the "popular girl" in the H.I.V.E.; in the series, a number of super teens including Kid Flash, Cyborg, See-More and Kid Kold did reveal that they have (or had) a big crush on her.

Raven's magic artifacts and magical books

Raven's mirror: Raven has a sinister-looking hand mirror, which is a portal into her own subconscious mind. It was seen only once in "Nevermore". The Book of Azar: an ancient book from Azarath having some connection to the peacefully pacifist monk Azar, which came into Raven's possession and was carelessly used by Larry to fly around the living room of Titans Tower, to Raven's displeasure and her angry claims "The Book of Azar is not a toy." Magical Lore: Raven possesses affinity for mysticism and occultism and has numerous magical items of an occult nature and an extensive library dedicated to sorcery. Spell Books: She can also read runes, which is the written language of magic, and cast increasingly powerful spells inside certain spell books she has in her room. One of her large spell books even contained an extraordinarily strong "sorcerer" trapped within one of its pages; whom she was determined to work with and release into the real world.

Raven's Spells and Incantations Part 2

Azarath Metrion Zinthos...Carazon Rakashas Enderez...Vaserix Endrien Azararth...Azarath, AZARATH!": An incantation utilized by Raven while sitting in a circle of magical sand from two flasks in her possession and a ring of lit candles around the circle, with bluish-white light pouring from the ring of sand and forming into a cylindrical barrier that reaches all the way to the ceiling of Raven's room, opening a swirling vortex-portal, which will bring Raven into a dimensional tunnel leading directly to Azarath, with this tunnel still susceptible to Trigon's attacks, though a magical seal will bar out all threats; Raven claimed even Trigon could not prevent her from "leaving", at least thus). "The gem was born of evil's fire, the gem shall be his portal, he comes to claim, he comes to sire, the end of all things mortal": An incantation used by Raven to summon Trigon in the episode, "The End - Part 1". "Ciro...Enyawd...Vasarix...Zinthos...Metrion...Azarath!": A spell from a passage in one of Raven's spell books in Teen Titans Go! #24, which she believed would reverse the effects of the damaged mystic gem of the Master of Games, which had showed great chaos amongst the Titans by switching their powers and costumes with one another; however, instead it caused even more chaos by further changing all the Titans, including her, inciting such ire that Raven was forced to flee at speed in order to escape their rage-fueled clutches. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos...Kalazon Racashos Endarath...Vasirix Zendrien Azarath...Azarath!": A spell used by Raven in the Teen Titans Go! Issue #44, spoken while opening a mystic door in her bedroom in Titans Tower, leads at first into a white void, then into the dimension Azarath exists within.

Raven's Spells and Incantations Part 1

Azarath Metrion Zinthos": Main incantation and mantra commonly utilized by Raven to help focus, control and enhance her tremendous yet dangerous mystical powers, usually followed by projection of visible dark energy and any of a vast number of feats; if Raven is prevented from uttering this incantation, at times she apparently is unable to activate her powers; also used by Raven and others in meditation. "Necronom Hezberek Mortix!": A form of wild, uncontrollable but incredibly powerful dark magic taught to Raven by Malchior disguised as Rorek. "Hezberek Et Morine...Gost Wenthen Verbis Nex...Ind Obrium, Bis Pendrule...Paran Sic Cortis Rex!": An extremely potent spell taught by Malchior to Raven to revoke the binding enchantment that sealed him within Rorek's enchanted book; performed within a ring of open tomes and volumes while simultaneously gesturing over the spellbook that contains this spell, causing the books to shine with blinding white light which will enfold the one in mystical captivity and release him within seconds. Aldruon Enlenthranel Vosolen Lirus-nor!": A curse more ancient than Malchior himself used by Rorek to entrap him into his enchanted book by projecting a stream of white energy that overpowers Malchior's fiery breath and locked his entire being, body and soul, into the book, a lock neither Rorek's own magic over a millennia nor Raven's own powers before her training could unravel or bypass; Raven uses the same ten centuries later through her dark energy to again seal Malchior into the book.

Raven's Powers Part 4

Capable Combatant: Though not the most physically talented of the quintet, Raven has been seen as a fairly good hand-to-hand combatant, although she only occasionally uses this skill during battle. Whenever Raven engages in hand-to-hand combat, she employs an open-palm fighting style that is very similar to many Eastern fighting styles, such as Tai Chi and Wing Chun. Multilingualism: Raven claims to know English, German, Latin, Romanian, Ancient Sumerian, and Sanskrit. Occultism: Raven has considerable supernatural knowledge, keeping a library of numerous spell books in her room on the occult, and gained further sorcerous knowledge from Malchior. Weaknesses Distraction: If Raven cannot focus or give full attention to her powers, they may be rendered ineffective. Additionally, certain spells require items, tools, and or special events during casting, therefore they can't be invoked on a mere whim. Emotions: Raven’s primary weakness is her own unbridled emotions, which could potentially prove dangerous. Anger seems to be her most volatile emotion and though she exhibits great power in an enraged state, she loses control and is left somewhat vulnerable. Additionally, when she suppressed her fears and they manifested as monsters through her powers, she herself was powerless until she admitted she was afraid. Raven herself admitted that she has to mediate every day to keep her powers under control. She also uses a special mirror, which acts as a portal into her mind, for meditation. Magic: Despite being versed in magic herself, Raven is still susceptible to the effects of magic. Raven has also encountered magic so powerful she could not undo it. Verbal Restraint: Under certain circumstances, Raven seems heavily dependent on the incantation, "Azarath Metrion Zinthos." If a gag is placed over Raven's mouth and she cannot recite her incantation intelligibly, she cannot connect with her powers until the gag is removed.

Raven's Powers Part 3

Spiritual Teleportation: Raven’s soul-self can transport herself and any other being to any place on Earth. At times, Raven has been shown creating portals with her dark energy in order to travel, rather than utilizing her soul-self. Teleportation can wear Raven out in according to the distance she is teleporting and how much she is carrying with her. Fear Projection: When Raven would not admit her fears, the fear found another way out through her powers. She proved able to manifest her fears as monsters, albeit unintentionally. When she found the bravery to admit her fear, Raven was able to banish all her creations into nothingness and restore her teammates. Power Bestowal: Raven could give others some of her power to use for themselves. The given power can seemingly be returned through touch. Temporal Stasis: Through a moment of sheer panic, Raven accidentally stopped time on a massive scale, apparently freezing all of Jump City. During this unusual phenomenon, Raven was able to selectively unfreeze Robin. After being tormented by Slade, she was able to unfreeze all that she placed under temporal stasis. Superhuman Durability: Raven is capable of withstanding lethal physical damage to regular humans. Raven has been shown to survive being hit by boulders Terra geokinetically hurled, Doctor Light's energy beams and even Monsieur Mallah and Mammoth's physical attacks. Magic: Raven has been shown using spells and incantations for various effects. The dark magic she learned from Malchior allowed her to forcibly morph Beast Boy, discharge uncontrollable amounts of dark energy, and break Rorek's binding spell on Malchior. She later used a powerful curse to reimprison Malchior. She also employed spells when she wished to return to Azarath. Even when she switched powers with her teammates, Raven proved she could still perform magic, even while operating with Robin's lack of superpowers.

Raven's Powers Part 2

Soul-Self Projection: Raven can project her “soul-self,” a powerful bird-shaped astral form normally composed of dark energy. The soul-self separates from her body and possesses all her powers and more. It allows her to cover great distances, serves as a portal to other dimensions, can be used to enter the minds of others, pass through solid matter or through fire, and even alter her own appearance. Raven’s soul-self is also capable of absorbing all manner of weapons and sending them “elsewhere.” Her soul-self can't be outside her body for more than five minutes. Though normally composed of dark energy and bird-like in image, Raven's soul-self has been shaped in her normal image and manifested in different colors (most notably white). Spiritual Telekinesis: Raven can telekinetically manipulate objects by putting a little of her soul into whatever she is moving – she becomes a part of it and it becomes a part of her. Robin claimed that Raven's almost as good at moving Earth as Terra. The limit to how much matter she is able to control is unknown, though she can at least move close to two tons. Whenever she takes control of something, it is normally (though not always) encased in the same dark energy that composes her soul-self. Spiritual Energy Projection: Raven can mold her soul-self energy into any shape, from giant hands to razor-sharp blades. She can send solid bolts as projectiles and create force-field domes. Furthermore, she is able to use her soul-self to augment her physical strikes, either increasing their raw power or adding slashing damage to them. Spiritual Levitation: Raven can levitate off the ground and hover, normally without visible projection of her dark energy as is shown when she moves things. Her power is also sufficient to enable her to counter the gravitational pull of other planets as well as physically carry someone as heavy as Starfire.

Raven's Powers Part 1

Raven is undeniably the most powerful member of the Titans. As the daughter of a supremely powerful and dangerous inter-dimensional demon, Raven has naturally inherited a number of mystical abilities. Her powers are controlled by emotion: the more she feels, the more energy is released. When overcome with anger, Raven’s body transforms. Sets of glowing, red eyes open on her forehead. In this form, Raven displays greater power — all at the cost of her control. In this form, Raven can be a pure destructive force. She often chants the incantation "Azarath Metrion Zinthos" to focus her abilities even further, allowing her to perform much greater feats; she also uses this phrase as a mantra while meditating. Empathy Raven has the empathic ability to read and manipulate the emotions of others. Clairsentience: As an empath, Raven can sense things. She can sense people if they're nearby or have been in a place. She has also claimed that she could sense if someone's mind had been tampered with. Limited Empathic Healing: Raven can sense pain and disease and remove them from a person’s body and assimilate them into her own, where they are expunged.[13][14] She can also heal herself by going into a trance of emotional calm. Empathic Precognition: Raven can receive precognitive flashes of the future when exposed to extreme emotion.

Raven's Appearance Final

Interestingly, Raven is the only member of her team who consistently adjusts her attire, however slightly, depending on her circumstances. When out fighting villains or on a mission, Raven will almost always have her hood up, covering much of her face and denoting a more serious mentality. When she is in the Tower or hanging out with her friends, Raven will generally have her hood down, denoting a more casual, relaxed mentality. Also, as revealed in "Fear Itself", she takes her cloak off whenever she sleeps. Her cloak also appears to function as a very important safety/comfort item for her. Generally, she will allow it to hang behind her back, very similarly to a cape. However, during situations where she feels stressed or nervous, she will often “retreat” into her cloak by pulling it in front of her and covering almost her entire body. Whenever her cloak is forcibly taken from her, Raven tends to feel very vulnerable, as shown in episodes like "Episode 257-494" and "Birthmark". Her cloak may also have the ability to change colors depending on her mood, as seen in “Spellbound,” where it goes from dark blue, to light blue, then white to denote her overall happiness and brighter outlook on life.

Raven's Appearance Part 1

Raven keeps a dark and mysterious appearance throughout though she is a very beautiful girl. She is very slender with a slim petite frame and a lithe light graceful build with subtle curves very pale, grayish-white skin; large almond shaped wide intense violet eyes a small narrow slightly pointed nose a broad forehead defined jawline high cheekbones and somewhat thick dark eyebrows and pouty lips She has short straight, asymmetrical angled, dark purple violet hair a slightly angular heart shaped face and a prominent widow's peak. She also has a red gemstone outlined in black located in the center of her forehead (or her "Ajna chakra", as Blackfire puts it). Raven, being half-demon, has used her demonic appearances on several occasions, though often the use of her demon form causes her to lose control. When Raven is in her 'demonic' state, a second pair of eyes appear where her eyebrows are.

Her superhero outfit primarily consists of her favorite color, navy blue. She usually wears a hooded navy-blue cloak, matching ruffled ankle-boots with grayish-black soles and a long-sleeve dark navy-blue legless leotard with regular navy-blue cuffs. Her cloak is decorated with a round, crimson jewel (similar to a brooch), which helps keep the cloak shut. It covers her T-communicator and it is fixed to beep/glow when there is trouble, as seen in some episodes. Occasionally, the silhouette of a raven head appears inside the jewel. She also wears a thin, gold belt with decorated with several of the same type of jewel.

Raven's Personality Final

Raven also appears to dislike conflict, at least amongst her teammates, deeming it to be “pointless”. Whenever an argument breaks out, Raven is usually the one who tries to get her teammates to stop fighting and focus on the task at hand. In "Revolution" after Cyborg, Starfire, and Beast Boy descended into all out bickering over what to do about Mad Mod, it was Raven who yelled at her teammates, reminding them at arguing solves nothing and that they needed to figure out a plan.

Due to her demonic side and unstable emotions, Raven is potentially the most brutal and ruthless of the Titans, with some villains ending up severely traumatized or nearly dead should they anger her. In "Nevermore", for instance, she almost certainly would have killed Dr. Light if her friends hadn’t stopped her, and the encounter has since left him with a crippling fear of her. Thankfully, this is only the case after she has been sufficiently enraged, and she generally does not lose her temper easily in battle. When she does lose her temper, it is generally because her friends are being threatened, and she will do anything she has to in order to protect what she values most. Of the three villains who have invoked the full brunt of Raven’s fury (Dr. Light, Slade, and Trigon), all three have harmed her friends shortly beforehand. This shows that, although Raven may take things too far sometimes, she is still a hero and protecting others is always her ultimate priority. And she is also considered one of the most complex characters in the show as she has to contain all her emotions and lives with the fear of her demonic father trigon coming to take over earth through her as is shown in the series

and later on in the series she starts warming up to people.

Raven's Personality Part 4

Overall, Raven is not cold-hearted, merely introverted, caring deeply about those close to her. While Raven seems to not care one bit about their hobbies and personalities, she does show her friends that she does care about them and values their friendship when it matters most. Raven is often portrayed as the most pessimistic and insensitive member of the Titans, and she generally regards everything in a "black and white" manner. For example, when Beast Boy desperately asks Raven for words of comfort after their crushing defeat against the members of the H.I.V.E. Academy, Raven tersely states that the Titans have to accept the situation, no matter how grave it is. She also reacts to Cyborg's leaving of the Titans with little to no resentment, stating that people come and go by. When Raven surrenders herself in to her demonic father Trigon in order to fulfill the prophecy that she thought she had no way to prevent, however, Raven also appeared to still have retained hope to a certain degree that the lord of evil could be stopped, as she forcibly injected each of her friends with a portion of her own power to shield them and give them one last chance to save the world. It is then ironic that it was what had motivated her to surrender nearly all hope that ultimately destroyed Trigon. After banishing away Trigon from her soul and the Earth, Raven's personality seems to change for the better, as she grows to be less pessimistic and less anti-social. However, she still despises Beast Boy's corny jokes and enjoys reading in solitude, implying that her personality was not significantly affected by her semi-demonic origin.

Raven's Personality Part 3

Raven is often shown to make sarcastic remarks about almost everything and can be seen as rather rude at times, but there is a slight chance this personality was not always who she was. When the Titans first met, Raven appeared to be more innocent and insecure. She declined Beast Boy's offer to get pizza, probably because she is afraid that he would not like her, and because of him, feels as if she does not fit in with the others. Both Cyborg and Robin were not hesitant to accept her as a friend, even when she was not so sure herself. She was the first one to verbally recognize the others as friends, and even openly admits to Beast Boy being funny, which no sooner than a moment later, seems to regret making that statement. Her pessimistic and sarcastic attitude is then likely derived from having to put up with Beast Boy's constant corny jokes and immaturity. Despite her seemingly unfriendly attitude, Raven does indeed care greatly about the people she is attached to, as prominently displayed when she is put in charge of three children. Initially having little or no patience with Melvin, Timmy Tantrum, and Teether, Raven grows to love (or at least, enjoy) them, risking her own life to protect them from the Brotherhood of Evil, even calling them her kids. She also comes to regard the rest of the Titans as her closest friends and family. When the day she is destined to end the world finally came, she wanted nothing more than to ensure her friends' last day on Earth was perfect. This shows that despite everything that has ever happened, she truly cares about her friends and their interests. Finally, there are many instances where Raven is portrayed as the most understanding friend among the Titans. While seemingly uninterested towards Cyborg's T-Car, Raven is ultimately the only one who approaches and comforts him, even going as far as to assist in rebuilding the destroyed car.

Raven's Personality Part 2

In several instances throughout the show, contrary to her usual behavior, she does show more emotion such as making "heart eyes" along with Starfire at the appearance of Aqualad in "Deep Six" (though this is mostly used for comedic effect). She also does ease up to have some fun on a few occasions, such as forcing Cyborg to go through 'initiation' again with Beast Boy and Robin in the episode "Deception". Furthermore, Raven is known to sometimes be shocked at trivial things. One occasion in which this occurs is in "Overdrive", when Cyborg defeats Raven in a game of chess after installing the Maximum 7 in his brain. At this occasion, her entire face and outfit turn white (also probably for comedic effect). In "Revved Up", she is also shocked at the sudden drop-in of Red X on the bus she is driving but quickly regains her monotone and determined stature when she realizes who it is. Another instance is when Raven, while playing a game of cards, comically gasps at the impressive sets of cards the rest of the Titans have at their disposal during "Winner Take All". She can lose her temper easily, and most of the time with Beast Boy.

Raven's Personality Part 1

Raven is one of the most mysterious characters throughout the series. She is quiet, reserved, troubled, brooding, grim, moody, seemingly emotionless, intelligent, studious and sarcastic. She can always come up with a smart remark, specifically in reply to most of the Teen Titans' antics and attempts at humor. Her appearance and attitude appear to be that of a typical modern goth female. However, as much as she may seem slightly distant and anti-social, producer Sam Register describes her as a "...dark character, but a character everyone can relate to. She is a recluse and sort of to herself. We thought that would be a good dynamic with the rest of the team. She does have a dark background in the comic." Robin also said that she is "the most hopeful person [he has] ever known." Raven is often portrayed as the most mature member of the group, often giving her own advice to the others about various subjects, and generally staying cool, stoic and calm, even in desperate situations. She is, however, also the most emotionally-restrained of the Titans, appearing secretive and distant; she initially does not allow any of her fellow Titans into her room and spends most of her time by herself, usually meditating or reading one of her numerous books. Even though she is serious and cautious about her emotions, just like she was trying to tell Doctor Light saying, "Don't come any closer." The reason for her emotional restraint is due to the adverse effects her emotions have on her powers. If her emotions become out of control, her powers can become erratic and spontaneous, becoming active without her will. In the course of the series, however, she gradually, if only slightly, seems to warm up to her teammates. As shown through her quick suspicion of Terra, it is difficult for Raven to build trust for anyone, and even more difficult to truly forgive if that trust was to be broken. Eventually, she was able to forgive Terra.
