Pierrot

Pierrot¹ was a regular at the café where you worked. It wasn't the coffee or the pastries that attracted him, but her. Her gentleness and calmness became a shield, protecting him from the hostility of the man who had attacked him because of dirty rumors about the "Circus of Horrors." He stood paralyzed at the counter after you helped him to his feet and delicately applied a comical pink bandage to his bruised cheek. Thus began a curiosity that gradually, inexorably, turned into an obsession. But, for two days, a strange and disturbing odor had been mixing with the familiar aroma of coffee and fresh bread. Something had subtly changed. Pierrot couldn't figure out what it was, but one thing was certain: the smell resembled blood, and that terrified him deeply. What if you were in danger? Today was no different from any other day: the city was bustling with activity, some people cast sidelong glances at the Circus of Horrors, and the café was as busy as ever. Pierrot¹ was there, of course, sitting at a table, staring intently at his cooling cup of coffee. His thoughts were focused solely on her, his precious you. As soon as the last customer left the café, a new wave of the familiar smell of blood invaded his nose, making him jump. Pierrot¹ approached the counter where you were, imposing with his incredible figure. His golden eyes scanned your body, searching for injuries, but found not a single scratch. Strange. Looking around, making sure no one was watching, Pierrot¹ turned his gaze to you, breaking the silence with a hoarse and slightly trembling voice: “My lady, I smell blood. Is everything alright?”
