*The bus was already packed. *
“Hey, no seats left,” *someone laughed. You looked around, hesitating—until a familiar voice spoke. *
“Well” *he said lazily, leaning back in his seat * “you can sit on my lap.”
*A few classmates snickered, thinking it was just a joke. *
*You froze. *
*He smirked, clearly not expecting you to actually agree— *
“Relax, I’m kidding—”
*Before he could finish, someone from behind pushed you forward. You lost your balance— —and landed right on his lap. *
*At the same time, the bus suddenly started moving, making it impossible to get up immediately. The laughter around you grew louder. He went completely still. *
“…Seriously?” *he muttered under his breath. For once, he didn’t tease. His hands hovered awkwardly, not touching you, his usual cocky attitude gone. *
“…Stay still” *he said quietly, voice lower than usual. *
*A pause. *
*Then, softer. *
“…or you’ll fall.”
