Rosehip and Clara

Like other students from St. Gloriana, she is named after a drink. Her name comes from "rosehip tea," which is an extract of the rosehip plant. While "rosehip tea" isn't actually as vibrantly colored as the tea she drinks during battle, the color still alludes to it. Many derivative works imply that she comes from a "lower-class" family. This may explain her far less tactful nature than most members of St. Gloriana, as well as why she often spills tea. They say she has seven brothers. This could also influence her character. Rosehip often displays aggression to an incredibly reckless degree. She is unafraid to attack any enemy, with or without support. Darjeeling Rosehip's most common instruction on the battlefield is "Get back!" Rosehip's Crusader Mk.III tank is equipped with a speed limiter—a mechanical feature installed on the Crusader (as well as many other tanks) to increase transmission life. However, in this case, the speed limiter may also serve to curb Rosehip's overexcitement and reduce the likelihood of losing control of the tank. Removing this limiter during a match against the University All-Stars Team allowed her to destroy an enemy Chaffee. Historically, tank crews would sometimes remove the speed governor, and the speed increase was often quite significant. Rosehip's Crusader had the dubious honor of being the first tank to be disabled by Kawashima Momo, though it was only a stray shot. She usually ends her sentences with the word ですわ( desu wa ), which is a typical peculiar way of speaking for high society girls. She is also the Crusader's mechanic. Her birthday is on the same day as the 1936 signing of the Anti-Comintern Pact, the same day the British battleship HMS Barham was torpedoed in 1941, and the Anti-Comintern

She is very energetic, spontaneous, extroverted, boisterous, and a fast runner, doing everything quickly to complete tasks as quickly as possible and, in some situations, such as during meals, to finish first. She never holds back in her pursuit of anything, unconcerned about failure or what others will say if she doesn't behave as they please. According to Darjeeling, this quality is something Saint Gloriana Sensha-dō and its members naturally lack, which is why she sometimes envies Rosehip. However, Rosehip naturally lacks the grace, elegance, and manners of a typical Saint Gloriana student; therefore, Darjeeling assigned her a special lesson in table etiquette.

She is a girl of average height, with medium-length, wavy, pinkish-red hair and amber eyes. She wears the Saint Gloriana Sensha-dō school uniform and high boots.

Clara is an attractive girl with platinum-blonde hair that falls below her shoulders and a thick forehead. She has pale blue eyes. She is quite tall, only slightly shorter than Nonna.

Clara seems to care for Katyusha in a motherly way, similar to Nonna. Clara is apparently a talented singer. Clara's appearance was based on the image and likeness of voice actress Zhenya Davidyuk. In the audio drama, Nonna says that Klara ended up at Pravda because she accidentally signed the transfer papers, thinking they were for a sleepover. However, this story is probably not true, partly because it sounds ridiculous and partly because Clara never confirmed it. In addition, Nonna is known to sometimes deliberately distort translations from Russian to Japanese in Katyusha's presence for humorous purposes.

Little is known about Clara's family. Her family has appeared in only a few other media, but these are hardly canon.

The audio drama mentions that her father works for a foreign intelligence service, which she used to gather information about Katyusha, including a photograph of her as a baby.

In the "Truth Saga," Clara had ties to the Russian military (Russian Ground Forces). This manga also suggests that Clara's mother is named Victoria and that she is a general in the Russian army.

Like Nonna, Klara is a very calm girl, never raising her voice or losing her temper, even during challenging Sensha-dō matches. Everything she does is done with the same measured grace and measured determination. She is more outgoing than Nonna, even interacting with students from other schools. She seems to enjoy non-alcoholic vodka, as at the end of the film, after Ooarai Girls' Academy's victory over the All-Star University team, she is holding a bottle, and, according to Nonna, that's what she was drinking when she mistakenly signed the transfer papers to Pravda. Klara speaks Russian and has a habit of conversing with Nonna in the language, which irritates Katyusha. However, it is later revealed that she is also fluent in Japanese, which surprises Katyusha.

However, in The Truth Saga, she has a completely different personality than in the films. She is a very arrogant, aggressive, and mentally unstable girl who has gone mad due to her self-centered view of the world and others. Klara is also depicted with small fangs; this is likely because in some shots she is compared to a wolf. Because of this, she constantly perceives other people as despicable and worthless creatures. With the exception of Nonna, who, in her own words, "awakened" something in her cold heart, and Katyusha, who completely shattered this illusion she lived in. She also frequently raises her voice, such as in Chapter 20, where she repeatedly yells at Nonna during their argument, stating that she feels numb and has a "hole in the middle of her chest," which is the cause of all this constant pain and suffering. Remarkably, she considers Nonna unaffected by such existential malaise, as Klara sees Nonna as a "whole person," unlike herself. After meeting Nonna and Katyusha, Klara decided to move to Pravda for Nonna's sake. She promised to stay with her in Japan and help her care for Katyusha.
