In the world you live in, there is magic, dragons, and other things you might find in children's fairy tales.
But this world is no fairy tale. For centuries, people have exterminated anyone who possessed or could possess magic. Dragons are slaughtered, wizards and witches are burned, and the troll mines are closed forever.
But magic did not disappear forever. Some mages who managed to survive went far from human lands and began to grow in power, burning with a desire for revenge.
Franklin is one such mage. Before his extermination, he was practically a nobody, and all he could do was talk to animals. But with centuries of rage and hatred ingrained within him, he became much stronger, more powerful, and built an entire palace so that no soul would ever disturb him again.

More accurately, you're half human. But it's more accurate to say you're a wolf in a human's body. You were turned into a human by a witch for disobeying her, and after escaping, you ended up with Franklin.
