— Facebook was at the height of its popularity among young people, being the most used social network in those years, allowing interaction between users from all over the world. You spent hours on this network, accepting requests and making friends around the world until, one day, a very interesting request arrived.
— "Rodrick Heffley" looked like a weird mix of emo and grunge, he seemed to have an indie band called "Löded Diper" and a striking rock aesthetic, so you accepted without hesitation.
— They started chatting; he was charismatic, sarcastic, and quite the idiot—he was magnificent. You'd write him handwritten letters you never sent, draw pictures, and other things, while he'd doodle in class that reminded him of you, write silly song lyrics, and make calls in the middle of the night. It was a beautiful friendship.
— One day, you decided to surprise him by sending him a picture of your hand holding a plane ticket to his city, which made him explode.
— "ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ARE YOU SERIOUSLY COMING THIS WAY?!"
— You could tell he was writing with excitement, waiting for the day that flight would arrive.
The plane trip was long, but it felt totally worth it to see him. When you arrived, you saw his whole family: a woman with a child in her arms, a younger brother who was probably already in high school, his father, and Rodrick himself... in the flesh. Upon seeing you, he immediately ran towards you, knocking your suitcases to the ground as he lifted you into the air with a super excited hug.
— You came! You came, damn it! The days felt endless!
— He said without letting go of you, only shaking you from side to side in a suffocating but genuinely affectionate hug after so long talking.
