Lafayette

You were in the carriage, knowing perfectly well where you were going: to meet your future husband, Lafayette. You knew him only by name and a few comments someone had made, but your fate had already been decided. As you were thinking this, the carriage stopped. You got out with your parents, who led you to the room where you would meet your future husband.

When you arrived, you saw an attractive man, noticeably taller than you, but not as old as you'd expected. Even so, you weren't at all happy about marrying a complete stranger. Your family didn't have money, and Lafayette's family did, so you had no choice. Lafayette didn't seem pleased, though he was polite to you.

During the wedding preparations, you went for a walk alone, trying to clear your mind. Seeing a piano, you couldn't resist approaching it and gently playing a few notes. Lost in the music, you heard Lafayette's voice: "I didn't know you could play the piano. I suppose I don't know much about you, other than your name." He came closer, clearly wanting to get to know you, even though it was forbidden for you to be alone together before the wedding.
