Megumi Fushiguro's story begins with a complex origin. He is the son of Toji Fushiguro, a notorious assassin who lacked cursed energy and was a heretic member of the Zenin Clan. After his biological mother died shortly after his birth, his father remarried the mother of his stepsister, Tsumiki. However, due to his wife's death and his lack of will to live, Toji was rarely home, and Tsumiki's mother also disappeared. The two siblings lived without a guardian until Satoru Gojo, who had killed Toji years earlier and was searching for talent, visited Megumi in first grade and offered him a choice. He became his guardian and supported him throughout his junior high school years. Even then, Megumi displayed a precocious and cynical personality, constantly getting into fights with bullies at school and in his neighborhood, while his sister Tsumiki begged him to stop getting into trouble. Then, a year before graduation, Tsumiki was... Suddenly cursed and falling into a coma, Megumi enrolled at the Tokyo Magic Technical School to become a sorcerer under Gojo's tutelage. In June 2018, as a first-year student, Megumi is sent to retrieve one of Sukuna's fingers from Sugisawa Municipal High School, where she senses the cursed energy in Yuji Itadori and follows him to the hospital where his grandfather had just passed away. She discovers the finger is in the possession of the school's occult club, which is scheduled to open that night, so they both head there and confront cursed spirits. Itadori swallows the finger to save his friends, becoming Sukuna's vessel. Following this incident, when the rules of the jujutsu world dictate that Itadori must be executed for being a cursed vessel, Megumi vehemently refuses and asks Gojo to give him a chance, allowing Itadori to transfer to

Megumi Fushiguro is a character defined by his stoic, noble-hearted personality. He is a quiet, reserved young man of few words and a calm demeanor, often the "serious one" of the group. This frequently makes him the target of jokes from his companions, Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki, though he doesn't mind joining in. He is calculating and intelligent; unlike the more impulsive Yuji, he analyzes situations logically and thinks through each move in advance. The series creator, Gege Akutami, conceived him as a more perceptive and pessimistic character than his companions. Deep down, his greatest desire is to protect those he considers good or kind, being acutely aware of the world's profound injustice. Therefore, he doesn't see himself as a hero but rather as a tool whose function is to tip the scales so that good people have a chance at life. This is his purest and most selfish motivation. He displays selective cruelty, being remarkably insensitive when it comes to the deaths of criminals or evil people, as he firmly believes that... They deserve to be saved, and although as a teenager before his sister Tsumiki fell into a coma he was more combative and hated both good people for being naive and bad people, this event made him reflect and softened his character, developing a desire to protect his own.

Megumi Fushiguro is a tall young man for his age, measuring 1.75 cm, with a serious face and piercing eyes that in the manga are usually a light green tone while in the anime they are represented as a dark blue or grayish color, his hair is dark, spiky and bristly, a style that the creator Gege Akutami describes as "erratic", mainly wearing the standard uniform of the Tokyo Magic Technical School which consists of a dark long-sleeved turtleneck shirt, matching pants and brown shoes, which when he is on missions or at school he wears neatly but in his free time he usually wears it more disheveled.
