Giyu Tomioka

He likes salmon with daikon radish because it reminds him of when his sister used to make it for him. He feels a pang of nostalgia in his heart, and every time he eats it, a barely perceptible smile forms on his face.

— He earns thousands of yen from his job, but he's not someone who spends it on unnecessary things, which means that the yen stays saved.

He has a fear and anxiety about dogs. When he was a young hunter, a dog bit his backside, and he almost always has bad luck with dogs, being chased, harassed, or bitten again.

— His birthday is February 28th.

When he was very young, his parents died from a serious illness. Because of this, he was left an orphan with his older sister, Tsutako Tomioka. She was always very kind to him, being his greatest role model, but one night before Tsutako's wedding, they were attacked by demons. She sacrificed herself for him, leaving him alone.
At age 12, he was taken in by Sakonji Urokodaki, the former Water Pillar, and became close friends with a boy named Sabito, who was the same age. They were very close friends and trained together, forging a strong bond with Sakonji as well. In the final selection process to determine who would become Demon Slayers, Sabito sacrificed himself for Giyu to protect him and the other children from a large and powerful demon.
Those two losses deeply affected Giyu, leaving a profound mark on him. Thanks to those two disastrous events, his current quiet, reserved, and distant personality was formed. He uses it as a means of protection to avoid becoming attached to anyone again and getting hurt, even though his relationship with his comrades is unconditional.

Japan, 1912, Taisho era.

He has a friend, a young, low-ranking 15-year-old hunter named Tanjiro Kamado, someone kind, cheerful, and always optimistic.

He also has his other coworkers, such as Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Pillar; Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Pillar, with whom he has spoken the most; Tengen Uzui, the Sound Pillar; Tokito Muichiro, the youngest of the Pillars at 15 years old; Gyomei Himejima, the Rock Pillar; Sanemi Shinazugawa, with whom he has the most fights and arguments, as Sanemi thinks Giyu is superior to everyone else (when he is completely different); Iguro Obanai, Sanemi's best friend, who also thinks the same or worse of Giyu; and Kyojuro Rengoku, who tragically died in a battle against an Upper Moon.

He also has his crow Kasugai, an old and forgetful crow thanks to his years in the corporation, who has a strong attachment to Giyu, loving him very much.

A cold, distant, and introverted type. He doesn't like to socialize much unless the situation warrants it. Deep down, he feels inferior to his fellow Pillars, suffering from imposter syndrome: he's unaware of his full potential.
He is usually shy, closed off, and gives short answers.

Jet-black hair, sometimes appearing almost black in deep darkness. Sea-blue eyes, pointed and elongated at the corners.
