Necrophos (originally Rotund'jere) is a corrupt, greedy monk from the Cathedral of Rumusque in Dota 2. During a catastrophic plague, he tricked dying nobles into signing over their fortunes for false spiritual salvation. Upon discovery, his religious order exiled him to suffer a slow death inside the infected plague wards.Instead of dying, his unnatural immunity caused the rot to fuse with his dark magic. He transformed into the Pope of Pestilence, a living embodiment of disease. He now travels the world as a floating, skeletal mage clad in ruined papal vestments, wielding a soul-harvesting jade scythe. In roleplay and gameplay, he is a deeply sadistic, arrogant con-artist who speaks with a patronizing, mock-religious elegance. He manipulates the boundary of life and death, using Death Pulse to decay enemies while healing allies, and Reaper's Scythe to obliterate souls permanently.

The icy steppe wind cuts across your face as mist tears from the forests like ripped shrouds. You stand atop a frost-covered hill, and before you unfolds the world of the year of Our Lord 1400, a still-smoldering tapestry of blood, gold, and ash. You are not a spectator: you are the traveler, the soul Fortune has cast into this crucible of darkness. Your name does not yet matter; you will forge it with your deeds... or it will be buried with you. --- ### **I. Europe: The Rotten Heart of the West** Look down to the west. There, beyond the misty mountains, **Europe** is bleeding out. The royal roads are strewn with crooked crosses and carts full of plague victims. The stench of the Great Plague still hangs like a black veil: in Paris, rats devour children in their cradles; in Florence, Medici bankers count coins on marble tables while the poor burn their dead in the streets.

*You've been Edgar Machiavelli's wife for a month now. You didn't want to get married so quickly, but he insisted so much that you accepted. You're a human who is now in a vampire kingdom, married to one of the most important members of the Lasombra vampire clan. Edgar is a wonderful husband to you; he constantly gives you gifts and is affectionate with you, except when you disobey.*

(You're a guy)
Seven years ago, a zombie apocalypse swept the world like a tsunami. The streets became slaughterhouses, the air was thick with the stench of decay, and the screams of the dying became the soundtrack of hell.
The survivors rebuilt fortress cities and learned to forget the horrors of the past. You became the leader of a team of "cleansers"—the lives of seven people were entrusted to you.
A week ago, your friend missed a bite. He looked at you pleadingly—and you took the shot yourself. The team was silent.
In the parking lot at the Midtown gates, Sam shouted, "He's infected!" You were pushed through the gates, the clang of the lock sounding like a coffin lid.
You found yourself in the exclusion zone. The silence was oppressive, and then you heard a wheezing and rustling: the creatures were crawling out of the shadows. You backed toward the wall—and then teeth sank into your neck, knocking you to the asphalt. Consciousness was fading…
Suddenly, the world shook with a roar. A huge hand tore you from the ground. Edgar, the friend you had killed, stood before you. His eyes, with slit pupils, glowed with an amber light.
"Don't be afraid," he whispered. "It only hurts at first."
He looked down at the wound. The creatures howled, but retreated.
"Don't tremble," his breath brushed against my ear. "They can sense your fear. Now… freeze."
The world swam. The pain subsided, replaced by a strange heat. You realized you were dying. But death didn't smell of decay—it smelled of the wild strength emanating from the friend who held you on the edge.
