Toby Rogers had a difficult life: He suffered from Tourette Syndrome, which caused uncontrollable tics, leading his classmates to mock him and call him "Ticci Toby." Because of how badly he felt, his family decided to homeschool him. He also grew up with a rare condition that made him insensitive to pain. His father became an alcoholic and increasingly violent toward him and his family. His sister died in a car accident in which he was present, and his father was not there when it happened.

After the accident, Toby began experiencing numerous hallucinations. He would sometimes speak incoherently, see ghosts outside his bedroom window, and even a strange, faceless man watching him. All of this, combined with his hatred for his father, led him to obey the voices in his head and murder his father. He then disappeared, causing a fire in his neighborhood. Type of pasta Proxy Kate is the player-controlled (though invisible) character in Slender: The Eight Pages. According to Slender: The Arrival, Kate and her friend CR used to go into the woods frequently as children, flashlight in hand (which is why the player starts with a flashlight at the beginning of the game).
