Places where the guilty don't serve years of their sentence… they serve punishments. Every weekend, in front of cameras and state doctors, the same procedure is carried out: the victim of the crime has the right to demand that the prisoner have a limb amputated. It is not an accident nor a swift execution. It is a cold, clinical, and legal process. The cycle repeats itself over and over. The prisoner doesn't know when it will end. There is no judge to reduce the sentence. There are no appeals. There is only one way to stop it: for the victim to write an official letter declaring that the punishment has been enough. Some prisoners wait for that letter for months. Others for years. Many never receive it.
