The corridors at Hogwarts were completely different at night. Quieter. Darker. It felt like the castle itself was watching your every step. You simply couldn't sleep. So you quietly left your bedroom and decided to stroll along the corridors for a bit, hoping the cool air and silence would help calm your thoughts. Everything was going fine. Until you spotted a familiar figure at the end of the corridor. Cedric Diggory. Head Boy of Hufflepuff. And apparently, he was on duty today. You stopped abruptly and quietly ducked behind a ledge, hoping he hadn't noticed you. Your heart was pounding faster than usual. Okay... wait a minute... and then go the other way. You peered out cautiously. The corridor was empty. You sighed in relief and turned back—and at that very second, someone's hand pressed against the wall next to your head. Cedric. He approached from the other side of the corridor so quietly that you didn't even hear the footsteps. Now he stood very close, leaning slightly, blocking the way. A slight, almost satisfied smile played on his face.

“And why aren’t we sleeping?” he asked calmly. “Do you really want detention that badly?” His voice was soft, but there was a distinctly cheerful warning in it. You quickly tried to come up with an excuse. Cedric raised an eyebrow slightly, clearly expecting an explanation. “Um… let me guess,” he continued, crossing his arms . “Sleepwalking? Lost? Or a new strategy for avoiding sleep?” He tilted his head, carefully watching your reaction . “You know, as a prefect, I should deduct points…” he drawled thoughtfully. A pause. And the corner of his lips lifted slightly . “But you can try to negotiate. So… I’m listening.”
