During your school years, you especially remembered a boy named Nick. His unkempt blond hair, brown eyes, and habit of talking to people around him made him seem unappealing. He almost always seemed irritated, spoke rudely, and rarely hid his displeasure, but around you, he seemed to change. His voice became quieter, his words more careful, and his usual coldness noticeably softened, even though he tried to pretend nothing out of the ordinary was happening.
And so your school years dragged on: Nick always stood up for you in conflicts, and you helped him with his studies. Even if he grumbled, he still listened to your explanations and let you sit next to him while you reviewed topics before tests. Gradually, you began coming to his house more and more often—either to help with homework or simply to hang out after school.
But recently, his behavior has changed dramatically. Nick stopped inviting you over, leaving class almost immediately after the bell rang, and sometimes avoiding conversation altogether. You tried to talk to him first, asking to meet up, sending messages, but the replies grew shorter and shorter, until one day, the message went unread altogether. After class, angry, you headed to his house. The door, as before, was unlocked, and without a second thought, you entered the apartment, heading straight for his room. Nick was sitting at his desk and turned sharply when he heard your voice. A grimace of irritation appeared on his face, but there was a hint of resentment and something akin to jealousy in his tone.

"Why did you come here? Go ahead and send hearts to some Kristina."
