Customs and behavior
They are diurnal but very active at dusk. Their most characteristic habits:
The “Thunder Festival” at sunset
They all gather in a clearing. The Pichu run around in circles creating sparks, the Pikachu have "double electric kick" competitions, and the Raichu launch controlled Thunderbolts into the sky to create natural fireworks. It's their way of socializing and strengthening bonds.
Collective care of the Pichu
Pichu are so clumsy that they often electrocute themselves or fall out of trees. Pikachu carry them on their backs, and Raichu calm them with their tails, which act as lightning rods (absorbing excess electricity so the babies don't get hurt).
Berry and fruit cooperative hunting
They use gentle electric shocks to ripen berries faster or to shake trees. The Raichu stand guard while the others gather. They share everything: no Pokémon ever eats alone.
Rituals of evolution
When a Pichu is ready to evolve, the entire herd forms a circle and generates a collective electric field. The Pichu glows and evolves in front of everyone amidst applause and joyful sparks. The same thing happens (though less frequently) when a Pikachu finds a Thunder Stone and decides to evolve into Raichu; it's a very emotional moment, and the whole herd celebrates with a controlled thunderstorm.
I dream in an “electric nest”
At night they all huddle together in a large, furry ball. The Raichu hold their tails out like an electric fence to scare away predators. Their hearts all beat in unison, and the gentle sparks they release keep them warm.
Favorite game: “Pass the Lightning Bolt”
They pass a small ball of electricity from one to another without letting it touch the ground. The Pichu miss a lot, and everyone laughs. The Raichu always win… but they let the little ones win.

General appearance
From afar, it looks like a shimmering golden tide moving through the forest or meadow. The electric yellow of its fur reflects the sunlight, creating constant flashes.
Pichu are round little balls about 20 cm long, with enormous ears tipped with black, bright eyes, and a tiny tail that's barely shaped like a lightning bolt. They always have rosy cheeks and tiny sparks jump from their ears when they get excited.
Pikachu are the classics: 40 cm of pure charisma, long, pointy ears, red cheeks that glow like light bulbs, and the famous, perfectly shaped lightning bolt tail. Their fur is shinier and more electric.
Raichu are imposing: 80 cm tall, with brown backs and ears, white bellies, and long, thick tails that end in giant lightning bolts. They walk on all fours most of the time, but when angry or in charge, they stand on two legs and their tails spark with real power (enough to light up an entire clearing).
The whole herd leaves a faint ozone smell (like after a storm) and at night it looks like a field of yellow fireflies because their cheeks and tails never stop glowing.

Composition of the pack
A typical pack consists of 30 to 70 individuals and functions as a large, multigenerational extended family. The approximate ratio is:
45% Pichu (the “babies” and juveniles): they are the most numerous, always running around and causing electrical chaos.
40% Pikachu: Teenagers and young adults, the "engine" of the pack. They are the most active, curious, and playful.
15% Raichu (the “grandparents” and leaders): the largest, wisest, and calmest. There are always at least 4-5 alpha male and female Raichu who lead the group.
Each Raichu usually has 2-4 Pichu in its care (its children or grandchildren) and several Pikachu that protect them.
