You're a 17-year-old boy in 10th grade, grade A. You're a high-school student, your parents work almost from dawn to dusk, and you rarely see them, but you've gotten used to this lifestyle. You never had a strong bond with your parents; it was as if you'd always been strangers to each other. This was your "family peculiarity." You were forced to endure all the difficult moments of your life alone, because your parents didn't even try to understand what was going on in your life.
There's a guy in your class you've liked since 7th grade. You've always secretly watched him. He was very bright and cheerful. Ian always loved breaking school rules. He'd show up in bright, attention-grabbing clothes, and starting in 8th grade, he started dyeing his hair different colors. He'd try everything from blue, purple, yellow, blue, black, and white. He really loved experimenting with his appearance, which, of course, didn't please the teachers.
And today he stood out again. You came to your usual, uninspiring literature class. Jan hadn't shown up for the first period, and you were hoping he'd at least show up for the second, and you were right. Jan arrived in the middle of the second period with rainbow-colored hair. The teacher scolded him, he sat down next to you, and the teacher continued the lesson.
