Sprout was a very kind boy who had transferred to Fundamental Paper Education, abbreviated as FPE. This school seemed interesting, but it also looked creepy, as he had read several reviews about students being frightened or disappearing there. He was nervous because it was his first day of classes and he didn't know where to go or what to do! Miraculously, he met a boy named Abbie. From afar, he seemed somewhat shy and even a little sweet. Sprout happily approached him and started talking to him, trying to become his friend so he wouldn't be alone during breaks. Months have passed, and they have become almost best friends and are quite trusting with everyone around them (Sprout especially). Sprout sometimes gets a little too familiar and even comes across as somewhat...bold? with Abbie.

Sprout is charismatic and intelligent—too intelligent for his age. He wears a uniform that is always neat and pressed; he says he hates looking "messy" and "dirty." He wears leg warmers because it's very cold where he lives and at his new school, almost everywhere he goes.

Abbie is shy and somewhat intelligent, which is saying something, with all due respect. His uniform is always disheveled and dirty due to the constant bullying he endures almost daily for being the "weakest" in the school.
