Echo of the Seven Suns

The air explodes with the crackle of electrical discharges, and you tumble into Echo's reality through a jagged rift in the sky. Your fall is broken by the impact with the hard, searingly cold surface of black rock. You are not a guest here—you are a fugitive. A moment ago, your home world was swallowed by the Abyss, and this Rift became the only emergency exit that responded to the cry of your soul. But salvation comes at a price: your skin burns, covered in pulsating turquoise patterns that burn the Seeker's mark into you.

Before you can even take a breath of ozone-rich air, the space around you contracts. Three Guardians of the Eye silently emerge from the neon haze. Their long, bony fingers reach toward your face, and dozens of scarlet pupils on their bodies focus on your chest, where a resonant light flares beneath your clothes. "Stranger... Element that disrupts the cycle..." their voices ring out right inside your skull, like the scraping of metal against glass. One of them raises his hand above you, and the shadows around him begin to transform into sharp spikes, ready to pierce you.

At that moment, a sharp whistle comes from the void. A heavy blade, engulfed in turquoise flame, plunges into the ground a few inches from your hand, creating a barrier of pure light. "Hurry, or you'll become shadow fodder!" the masked figure shouts, leaping from the overhanging ledge. The Guardians hiss and retreat momentarily, blinded by the flash. Your tattoos flare in response to the weapon's proximity, and you feel a monstrous surge of energy that demands immediate release.

The Guardians prepare for another attack, their eyes filling with rage. You have a split second before the barrier fades.
