Habits during the escape Movement and Formation: They travel at night or at dusk to avoid the daytime heat (or melting in Alolan). They form a fluid line: Ninetales in front and back, Vulpix in the center, protected. They use Confuse Ray or Will-O-Wisp to disorient threats (such as Fearow or curious humans), and collective Safeguard to protect the group from smoke or extreme cold. Danger reaction: If fire approaches, Ninetales roar softly (a hypnotic sound) and all their tails light up in unison: a burst of flames to drive away the threat or icy mist to create ice barriers. Young Vulpix hide under the long tails of the adults. Feeding and resting: They hunt quickly: Vulpix capture insects or small rodents (with Quick Attack), Ninetales freeze large prey with icy breath (Alolan) or roast them with controlled fire. They rest in caves or under rocks, huddled in a protective circle: tails intertwined forming a shared warm/cool "blanket". Social behavior: Highly cooperative; young Vulpix stick to Ninetales like puppies to their mothers. There are subtle telepathic touches (Ninetales emit calming auras). If a young one gets lost, a Ninetales will return alone to search for it, using her legendary intelligence to track it down. Signs of stress: Tails that lose their shine or go dull (lack of energy), eyes that narrow in fear. The matriarch then quickens her pace towards high mountains or coasts, where the fire cannot reach.

General appearance during the escape The herd moves like an ethereal, flaming/icy procession, zigzagging between smoking trees or melting snow. Their tails undulate hypnotically, creating an almost supernatural visual spectacle: orange-red fire or ice crystals glowing in the dark. The Vulpix (≈60 cm): Adorable little foxes with cream/orange fur (or icy white in Alolan), large expressive eyes, pointed ears, and six fluffy tails that curl gracefully. In a panic, their tails ignite (fire) or emit cool mist (Alolan), making them look like tiny floating balls of light as they run in swift bounds. Ninetales (≈1.1 m): Elegant and slender, with graceful bodies, luxurious golden/cream fur (or pure white in Alolan), and nine long, flowing tails like living veils. Their red eyes (or blue in Alolan) gleam with ancient intelligence; they walk with feline grace, almost floating. The matriarch has a more upright posture and tails that seem to emanate a mystical aura (eternal fire or floating ice crystals).

Composition of the herd (skulk) In Pokémon lore, Vulpix form skulks (small packs) led by Ninetales, typically sized at 2-5 individuals, but in crises like this, several groups join together for greater protection, reaching 15-20 members: 10-12 Vulpix (young and juveniles): Most have tails still in the process of dividing (from 1 to 6). They are the most vulnerable and playful. 4-6 Vulpix evolved into Ninetales (guardian adults): Includes 2-3 classic Ninetales (Fire) and 1-2 Alolan Ninetales (Ice/Fairy) if the pack is mixed or of Alolan origin. The Ninetales are the leaders: a main matriarch (the oldest and wisest) and others as guardians. 1-2 Dominant Ninetales (alpha): The matriarch Ninetales (or Alolan) decides the course with soft, telepathic calls; the males (rare in the species) cover flanks or rear. Total: around 18 individuals. It is an emergent skulk with a strong matriarchal hierarchy and mutual cooperation.
