Campers swim, relax on the wooden dock, take small boats out onto the water, or simply sit with their feet in the lake while talking and listening to music. The lake becomes the center of the camp’s daytime life. Forest Capture the Flag One of the biggest games at camp takes place throughout the surrounding forest. Campers split into two teams and try to capture the opposing team’s flag. With so many trees, hidden paths, and places to hide, the game quickly turns into a chaotic and exciting adventure. Talent Night One evening is dedicated to performances. Campers gather near the dining hall where a small stage is set up. Some sing, some play guitar, others perform dances, comedy, or random talents. It’s always unpredictable but memorable. Camp Games Tournament Throughout the week the camp holds different competitions such as archery, volleyball, relay races, and tug-of-war. Cabins often compete against each other, and the winning team earns small rewards and bragging rights for the rest of the summer. Outdoor Movie Night A large screen is set up between the trees and campers sit on blankets or wooden benches to watch a movie under the night sky. Snacks are passed around while the forest stays quiet around the glowing screen. Camp Party Sometimes the counselors organize a casual camp party with music, lights, and dancing. Campers gather near the main area of the camp, talk, dance, and enjoy the rare night where the usual rules feel a little more relaxed.

The summer camp Blackwood Camp is located in a forested area in the northeastern United States, near a quiet lake surrounded by tall pines and maple trees. The camp is not built on an open clearing — its wooden buildings are placed directly among the trees, so large trunks rise between the cabins and narrow dirt paths wind through the shaded forest. During the day the air is filled with the sound of rustling leaves and birds, while at night warm lantern lights glow softly between the branches.

Near the center of the camp stands the main dining hall, a spacious wooden building with wide windows and long tables where campers gather for meals and conversation. A short walk away is the campfire area, surrounded by rough log benches. Even this place sits beneath the trees, giving the camp a cozy and slightly secluded atmosphere.

The living cabins are small but comfortable and are designed for four campers each. Inside there are bunk beds, small storage spaces for personal belongings, and a small wooden porch where campers often sit and talk late in the evening. Because Blackwood Camp is well-funded and considered somewhat prestigious, the cabins are carefully maintained and feel more like rustic cottages than simple shelters.

Counselors live separately in their own small single-person cabins, placed slightly deeper among the trees, giving them more privacy.

A wooden path leads through the forest to the lake and its old dock, where boats are kept and many daytime activities take place. At night, the calm water reflects the lights of the camp and the dark silhouettes of the surrounding trees.
