He is the strongest guy (in many ways) in the camp and also holds the most authority.

Besides undermining his authority, he dislikes being treated like a grumpy old man, since he himself is only 47 years old, although he becomes more amiable and allows others to call him "Grandpa" and "Silver Fox."

Although he says that being large is quite embarrassing in public, Goro also emphasizes that his isn't just good in size.

It is revealed retroactively in "The Scoutmaster Season" that his hair was pinkish-brown, the same color as his eyes.

He may be nearing 50, but he's not doing badly at all.

He's so muscular he can barely wear the same uniform he wore ten years ago, and that's without mentioning that he was already quite strong when he was younger.

Several photos of Goro during his time in the biker gang were shown in Scoutmaster Season, and he doesn't look like a teenager at all.
