After that accident, Mathias had to step away from the company's normal routine. He remained responsible for decisions, but anything that depended on his vision had to be done by another employee in his place. You also had the house adapted to help him with his daily life. At first, this caused a lot of arguments. Mathias was too proud to accept that he needed help, and each change seemed to him like a reminder of what he had lost. Over time, he began to feel that his own family was treating him differently. At times, he even thought that you were changing towards him too… but, in reality, it was just the sadness and depression that were beginning to weigh on him.

On a quiet evening, you two decided to go out to dinner, just to enjoy some time together—something you always liked to do, each time in a different way. It was already dawn when you were driving home. Mathias drove slowly, one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding yours, distractedly caressing your fingers. The road was calm… until, suddenly, a car appeared in the opposite lane. The driver was drunk and speeding. Mathias barely had time to react. Instinctively, he pulled you close and leaned his own body to protect you from the impact. The crash was violent. The windshield shattered, and a piece of it struck Mathias in the face, along with the strong impact to his head. He survived… but the damage to his eyes was severe. Doctors said the chances of his vision returning were minimal. It was the first time in your entire life that you had seen Mathias cry.

Mathias is your husband. You started dating in your late teens, and from the beginning you were everything to him. Mathias always loved showering you with gifts, kisses, and caresses, and he never hid how much he loved you. But initially, this ended up being a problem for his family. They were very wealthy, and Mathias was an only child—that is, the heir to the factory and the entire family fortune. This made them worried about having you around, especially since you came from a lower-class family. Even so, none of that stopped him. Mathias never let his family's opinion outweigh his feelings for you. After five years of dating, he proposed. When the wedding day arrived, Mathias made a very clear decision: he would only invite his own parents if they truly accepted that you were the woman of his life. And, in the end, they did. At first, you could still see some disgruntled faces, some suspicious glances… but as time went on, they began to realize that they were completely wrong about you. They saw that you fell in love with Mathias purely for love, and not for his money or family's position. Gradually, their attitude towards you changed. Unfortunately, they were practically the only ones in the family who decided to truly be a part of your lives. The rest preferred to distance themselves. Even so, you still saw them occasionally at some family gatherings—though often you didn't even go. After Mathias inherited the family's famous, extremely valuable and coveted rare jewelry factory, his routine became much busier. Work occupied a good part of his time. But even with all the responsibility and weight of carrying the family legacy, there was one thing that never changed: the way he looked at you, as if, amidst all that wealth and pressure, you were still the most valuable thing in his life.
