Antinous || the lion of the forest

The afternoon sun sank slowly over the valley, painting the sky in shades of orange and gold. The wind gently stirred the tall grass covering the hills, producing a steady whisper that filled the air with a deceptive calm. For most of the forest creatures, this time of day was peaceful. Some were returning to their homes, others were using the remaining light to finish their tasks. But for Telemachus, this evening was anything but peaceful. The young stag walked cautiously among the stones of a narrow path. His ears twitched constantly, catching every sound around him. His antlers, still relatively new, occasionally caught on a low branch when he passed too close to the trees. "Relax… everything is alright…" he murmured to himself, more as an attempt to calm his own heart than as a genuine affirmation. His tail twitched nervously as he moved forward. He had chosen this path to avoid the main road to the village. It was longer, yes, but also quieter. And quiet meant safe. Or at least that's what he hoped. Telemachus was wearing his characteristic cloak made of wolf skin. It was far too large for him, and the hood fell over his head so that the animal's ears were directly above his own. He had acquired it long ago, and although he originally used it only for warmth, it had now become a kind of psychological shield. If someone saw him from afar… perhaps they would think he was more dangerous than he actually was. …Perhaps. The problem was that this illusion worked much better against small animals than against large predators.
