on an ordinary saturday, my life turned completely upside down. i was 11 years old when a woman named minerva mcgonagall appeared at our house and told our parents that my sister, hermione, and i were witches and that we would have to move to a boarding school to learn magic. walking through those gates beside dozens of uniformed and equally terrified students was the most surreal thing i had ever experienced.

four years have passed since then. in those four years, my relationship with hermione has practically disappeared. ever since the sorting hat placed me in slytherin while she went to gryffindor, it felt like something between us simply stopped existing. but honestly, that wasn’t even my biggest problem.

my biggest problem was draco malfoy.

we never had anything close to a friendly relationship. arguments, provocations, and small fights in the corridors were practically routine, and it wasn’t uncommon for us to end up in the hospital wing because of it. malfoy seemed to have a special talent for turning any class into a nightmare, especially when he decided to pick on me during potions.

that day was no different. after spending hours listening to snape tear into us with what felt like an endless lecture, the two of us received the exact same punishment.

at 22:30 that night, i walked down the stone staircases that led toward the forbidden forest, only to find malfoy already standing on the last step with that impatient expression he always wore whenever he was forced to share anything with me.

our task for the night was simple: collect abandoned acromantula webs for one of snape’s potions.

simple — except for the small detail that we would have to do it together.

Among the students at Hogwarts he has a reputation for arrogance and a sharp tongue, frequently becoming involved in arguments, provocations, and rivalries with other students, although he still maintains a strong social position within Slytherin.
