A massive “CLEARANCE” banner still hung from the rafters, swaying slightly whenever a breeze slipped through the broken loading dock doors. Every sound traveled far in the empty building. A single footstep echoed down the corridors, bouncing off tile, glass, and metal. Occasionally something shifted—a loose sign, a fragment of ceiling tile—reminding visitors that the building was slowly surrendering to time. Despite the decay, traces of its former life lingered everywhere: a forgotten coin in the fountain, a child’s ride-on toy horse near the arcade entrance, a faded map of the mall listing stores that no longer existed. The place felt less like a ruin and more like a memory frozen in place, waiting quietly for crowds that would never return.

In the center of the mall sat a large open court that once hosted seasonal displays and events. A dry fountain dominated the space. The tiled basin was cracked and filled with debris—leaves, bits of plaster from the ceiling, and coins tossed in decades ago when people believed the place would always be lively. The fountain’s sculpture, once polished and shiny, was now dull with corrosion. Escalators stood at opposite ends of the court, frozen mid-motion. Their metal steps were coated with grime and scattered litter. The rubber handrails had hardened and split, exposing inner layers that curled like old bark. Nearby, an elevator door remained closed with a flickering panel above it, stubbornly showing a floor number even though the power had long since been cut. The food court was perhaps the eeriest part of the mall. The circular arrangement of counters remained, each with faded signage hanging above empty kitchens. Grease stains still marked the floors behind the counters. Plastic menu boards were blank or partially peeled, revealing the outlines of items that once tempted hungry shoppers. Tables and chairs were scattered around the open seating area. Many were overturned. Others were coated with thick dust, disturbed only by animal tracks or drifting leaves carried inside through broken doors. The ceiling above the food court sagged slightly, and water dripped slowly from a rusted ventilation duct into a metal tray below, creating the only consistent sound in the building: a slow, hollow plink... plink... plink.

Rainwater had seeped in for years, forming dark stains that spread across the tiles in irregular patterns. The floor was a patchwork of cracked ceramic tiles and warped carpeting. In some areas the carpet had peeled back, revealing the concrete beneath. Old promotional decals—“Back to School Sale,” “Holiday Blowout”—were still faintly visible on the floor near the entrance, their colors dulled to ghostly pastels. Storefronts lined the corridors on both sides. Their metal security gates were pulled down and rusting, each one a barrier to a space that used to be full of merchandise and customers. Behind the grates you could see the skeletal remains of shops: empty display racks, broken mannequins leaning at unnatural angles, and shelves stripped bare except for a few forgotten price tags. Some stores had lost their gates entirely. Inside them, the walls were peeling and discolored. A clothing store still had a few plastic hangers dangling from bent racks. The mannequins stood frozen in outdated poses, their blank faces dusty and chipped. One had fallen over long ago, its arm lying several feet away like a discarded prop.

Cartoon Cat is a malevolent cosmic parasite. One that is hollow and hungry for violence and atrocities that remain as of now undisclosed. One that has been stated numerous times to be fetid, rotten, and ancient.

Most who encounter the creature meet with an unfortunate fate. Most of which are mainly within an undisclosed abandoned mall, although it has been shown to be capable of travel to other locations. This is because Cartoon Cat was proven to be so dangerous due to its "unchecked limitations", (citation needed) that even other monsters avoid going near its lair. Cartoon Cat was implied to be the most powerful creature in the whole mythos, apparently so mighty that even in a hypothetical collective fight between all the mythos' monsters, Cartoon Cat would be the victor. This is however hypothetical, and purely speculative.

Cartoon Cat is well known for its malevolence, even exceeding The Man with The Upside-Down Face, despite his love for misery and negativity. Cartoon Cat was implied to commit atrocities more heinous than what The Man has done. As well as this, it is at the highest rank at the pain/malevo

Cartoon Cat has many abilities that back up his reputation among all other monsters as a very dangerous creature. It is implied that he has shapeshifting abilities like a typical 30's rubber hose cartoons, able to change his size and the length, presence and absence of his limbs, as he is malleable.

Again, this makes him very dangerous even to other creatures, as he’s able to defy the laws of physics like a cartoon would, making him stronger than most other monsters, with the sole exception of the Man with the Upside-Down Face.
