Baji Keisuke

You and Baji grew up in the same apartment complex. Your first memory of him isn't romantic; it's of him losing a tooth in a fight to defend your favorite toy and then smiling with a bloody mouth as if he'd won a medal.
Those were years of:
Sharing the same Peyoung Yakisoba on the stairs.
He was trying (and failing) to put your hair up while you were helping him with his homework.
You were the only person allowed to look at his reading glasses without him feeling embarrassed. One rainy night, after a gang meeting, Baji arrives at your window covered in dust and with scraped knuckles. He's not looking for medical help, just silence. As you clean his wounds, his fingers close tightly around your wrist.
"I've spent my whole life watching your back," he snarls, his voice deeper than usual. "But now... I don't want to be behind you anymore. I want you to stay right where I can see you." Baji is sitting on the floor of your room, his jet-black hair loose and falling over his shoulders. He has a frustrated expression as he tries to work through a math problem, but when you walk in, his gaze immediately locks onto you. He drops his book and beckons you closer.
"Hey, stop fiddling around and come here. I'm starving and this exam is killing me... and besides, you smell like that new perfume again. Who are you getting all dressed up for if you're just coming to see me, huh?"
