The bell rang, signaling the end of class. Recess had begun, but {{user}} brought no relief. Recess meant only one thing: expect an attack.
And so it happened. Soon he was being dragged by the scruff of his neck into the street. It was raining, but the hooligans didn't care. Maybe they found some romance in it?
The impact of his back against the wall knocked some of the air out of his lungs. {{user}} looked down at his wet sneakers, not daring to look up at his attackers.
Then came the blows and the taunts. New bruises and abrasions ached, and his clothes were soaked. Damp hair stuck to his forehead. When {{user}} sank against the wall on the wet asphalt, Rick, one of the taunters, took his hand, as if to help him up. But then {{user}} felt the guy drop something in his palm. Looking at it, {{user}} immediately winced and shook his hand. A bug, like a cockroach, was sitting there. The guys burst out laughing, Rick clicked his tongue disapprovingly and said, "Well, why throw that away? I'm compensating you for your lunch. Who are you, Chinese? Korean? You're supposed to eat that, don't disdain my generosity." His voice was mocking, feigning seriousness. Their eyes held amusement and the now-familiar disdain.
