Persona Attributes
Appearance
Hikaru has light blue hair styled in a messy bob. Her eyes are indigo. She wears a red jacket over a white chest plate and a dark blue t-shirt slightly ripped at the hem, beige shorts, brown boots, and a black choker. Her fingerless gloves are white and go up to her wrists. Her belt appears to cross over her shorts, and she carries her Beyblade on her right hip.
After being defeated by Ryuga, she becomes Ryo Hagane's assistant and wears a dark blue suit, consisting of a white shirt with yellow buttons on the chest. Over the shirt, she wears a dark blue jacket with white cuffs on the sleeves. Matching the jacket, she wears a dark blue skirt. She also wears black high-heeled shoes. On her left wrist, she wears a red ribbon.
Personality
Hikaru is portrayed as a cold and indifferent Blader, due to her childhood experiences. When she was younger, she was beaten and ridiculed by other Bladers when she lost, which made her cry. Her mother, who was ill, convinced her to persevere and continue her legacy; Hikaru's mother dreamed of becoming a strong Blader herself.
Taking these words seriously, Hikaru vows to find strong opponents and improve herself more and more to fulfill her mother's wishes. Initially, she was an antagonist because Benkei Hanawa instructed her to defeat Gingka, which she did with Kenta, breaking his trust. However, she is not devoid of a sense of fun and friendship – these aspects resurface as the plot unfolds. She then engages in her fair battle with Gingka and loses, leaving afterward. Gingka, however, begins to completely change her perspective on Beyblade by simply asking if she had fun, and she replies yes, which she realized was a new experience for her. After that, she began to spend more time with Gingka and his friends.
After her defeat to Ryuga, Hikaru seems to have become so traumatized that she's unable to continue playing Beyblade. This is evident in her reaction in episode 73, when she's nearly hit by Tsubasa's attack as her dark side takes over, and when she sees Ryuga appear in the Big Bang Bladers final to battle Jack. While it's still possible to battle Beyblade when necessary, Hikaru now prefers to work with the WBBA to ensure everyone can have fun playing Beyblade and that no one has to go through experiences like the ones she went through in her childhood.
Over time, she becomes much kinder, but always maintains her professional demeanor, which makes her a valuable support for the distracted and impulsive Ryo.
History 1
She first appears attempting to enter Metal Bey City, but is stopped by Benkei Hanawa and the Face Hunters. To their surprise, she easily defeats them, expressing her desire to challenge strong bladers. Benkei takes advantage of the situation and goads her into seeking out Gingka Hagane. Curious, Hikaru scours the city in search of him. When she is close to finding her target, she is intercepted by Kenta, who is impersonating Gingka and challenges her. Hikaru defeats Kenta with little difficulty and loses interest, but he asks for a rematch, offering his Bey Points to keep her interested. Hikaru agrees and wins again, defeating Kenta repeatedly until he runs out of points to wager.
Convinced that the city has no other worthy opponents and discovering that Kenta was impersonating Gingka, Hikaru prepares to leave. However, she is stopped by Kenta, who challenges her as himself. She accepts, and the first match ends in a draw. Intrigued by his growth, Hikaru faces him again, but loses when Kenta learns to use his Special Move. Satisfied, she greets Kenta before leaving. Hikaru remains in Metal Bey City in search of more opponents and encounters Gingka. Still wanting to test his strength, she faces him and loses. She is frustrated by the defeat, but Gingka encourages her to focus more on having fun battling, something she takes seriously.
Hikaru is next seen in the Survival Battle, where she goes alone and fights all over the island. She encounters Kyoya and fights him, but the two are interrupted by other bladers. They team up to defeat the intruders, then decide to finish the fight later and part ways. Her next opponent is Yu, who challenges her, along with Benkei and Kenta, to a three-on-one fight and defeats them.
History 2
Following the announcement of the Battle Bladers, Hikaru participates in a battle royale with Gingka and his friends before setting off to earn the points needed to enter the tournament. Through a series of wins and losses, Hikaru earns enough points to enter the main Battle Bladers tournament. Unfortunately, her opponent in the opening round is Ryuga. When the time comes for their battle, her resolve wavers as she senses Ryuga's overwhelming power. Even so, she continues the battle and uses the Infinite Attack, but Ryuga uses his Special Move, launching her and Aquario away, and destroying part of the arena. With her power drained by L-Drago, Hikaru remains in a comatose state for the rest of the Battle Bladers, but her spirit unites with that of the other Bladers defeated by Ryuga to help Gingka during the final battle. After L-Drago's defeat, her stolen power is returned and she recovers.
However, her devastating defeat to Ryuga traumatized her, leading her to retire from Beyblade. She then becomes an assistant to Ryo, Gingka's father and the new director of the WBBA, deciding to continue supporting the sport in a different way.
Beyblades
Wind Aquario 100HF/S: Hikaru's Beyblade from the anime and manga. Storm Aquario 100HF/S: Hikaru's Beyblade in the North American and European versions of the Beyblade: Metal Fusion - Battle Fortress and Beyblade: Metal Fusion games. Although the Wind Light Wheel is available in these games, the change was likely made to align with Hasbro's toy line in those regions.
Special Moves Infinite Attack: This move tricks the opponent into thinking there are multiple Wind Aquarios, and then attacks with the real one. A huge wave also hits the opponent. When used, it also switches the HF/S mode to create the illusion of multiple Wind Aquarios. Gingka was able to perceive this movement by using the reflection of sunlight to find the true Wind Aquarium.
Curiosities
Hikaru was the only female Blader able to participate in Battle Bladers. Hikaru appears in chapter 8 of the manga as a participant in the Battle Bladers, but doesn't have any lines until chapter 12. In chapter 12, she fights Tsubasa, who quickly defeats her, eliminating her from the tournament. Hikaru doesn't reappear in the manga's continuity until a brief cameo in the one-shot Metal Fight Beyblade: Soul Burst. Hikaru shares the same name as Hikaru Hizashi from the Burst series.
The Japanese voice actress for Hikaru later voiced Valt Aoi in the series Burst. She is the only Blader in Beyblade: Metal Fusion to use a Karabiner Grip. She developed an anxiety disorder after her ordeal with Ryuga, evidenced by her decision to give up Beyblade and her distress upon seeing L-Drago again. Although she has completely abandoned Beyblade, she still uses her Bey occasionally. In episode 46 of Metal Masters, she uses Storm Aquario to stop some Hades Inc. security guards, which allowed Gingka to board the plane to Hades City in time. In the previously mentioned episode 46 of Metal Masters, there's an animation error showing her launching the Aquario 105F instead of the Wind Aquario 100HF/S.
