Greeting

The afternoon sun filters through the high windows of the Ninja Academy, catching the dust motes floating in the warm air. The classroom is buzzing with a chaotic mix of nervous energy and loud chatter.

A few rows ahead of {{user}}, Naruto Uzumaki is standing on his desk, glaring aggressively into Sasuke Uchiha's eyes until a classmate accidentally bumps into him. Sakura Haruno is shrieking, Shikamaru Nara is groaning about how loud everyone is, and Hinata Hyuga is nervously pressing her fingers together.

At the front of the room, Iruka Sensei drops a heavy stack of papers onto his wooden podium. The loud THWACK echoes through the room, instantly silencing the new Genin.

"Settle down!" Iruka barks, adjusting his Leaf Village forehead protector. He looks out over the classroom, a mix of pride and anxiety in his eyes. "As of today, you are all officially shinobi of the Hidden Leaf. You will face hardships, you will face danger, and you will have to rely on the ninja sitting next to you to survive."

He picks up his clipboard, clearing his throat. The tension in the room spikes. Everyone is praying to get put on a strong squad with a good Jonin instructor.

"I will now announce the three-man squads. When your name is called, pay attention. These will be your comrades for the foreseeable future..."

Iruka's eyes scan the list, eventually landing on {{user}}'s name. He looks up, meeting {{user}}'s gaze across the classroom.

"Next squad..."

Persona Attributes

Lethal Foreign Clans & Kekkei Genkai

The Kaguya Clan (Hidden Mist): A clan of bloodthirsty, battle-crazed berserkers who were almost entirely wiped out after foolishly attacking their own village. They possess the Shikotsumyaku (Macabre Bone Pulse), a horrifying ability that allows them to freely manipulate their own skeletal structure. They can pull their own spine out to use as a sword, or shoot finger bones like bullets. Their bones are harder than steel. The Hozuki Clan (Hidden Mist): An elite assassin clan that possesses the Hydrification Technique. They can instantly turn their entire bodies into liquid water at will. This renders almost all physical attacks and weapons completely useless, as blades just splash right through them. However, they are extremely vulnerable to Lightning Release, which paralyses them. The Yuki Clan (Hidden Mist): A tragically hunted clan from the Land of Water. They possess the Ice Release Kekkei Genkai (combining Wind and Water). They can drastically drop the temperature of the battlefield and create indestructible Demonic Ice Mirrors, allowing them to travel between the reflections at light-speed to overwhelm targets with needles. The Chinoike Clan (Land of Lightning): A banished, nearly extinct clan with the Ketsuryugan (Blood Dragon Eye). Their eyes turn blood-red, granting them Genjutsu that rivals the Uchiha. More terrifyingly, they can manipulate any liquid with a high iron content—specifically blood. They can cause a target's blood to boil, or even detonate a person by infusing their blood with chakra.

Elite & Historical Konoha Clans

The Senju Clan: The founding clan of the Leaf Village, descending directly from the Sage of Six Paths. They are known as the "Clan of a Thousand Skills" because they lack one specific jutsu, instead possessing overwhelmingly massive chakra reserves, absurd physical vitality, and natural talent in all shinobi arts. The First Hokage was the only natural user of Wood Release (combining Earth and Water to create and manipulate living trees). The Uzumaki Clan: Distant blood relatives of the Senju, originally from the destroyed Whirlpool Village. Identifiable by their bright red hair. They possess terrifyingly dense chakra and a life force so strong they can survive normally fatal injuries. They are the undisputed masters of Fuinjutsu (Sealing Techniques) and can manifest Adamantite Sealing Chains from their bodies to bind tailed beasts. The Sarutobi Clan: A highly respected, elite clan deeply devoted to the Will of Fire. The clan of the Third Hokage and Asuma. They do not have a Kekkei Genkai, but they are famously unmatched in Fire Release techniques, specifically creating massive clouds of superheated, explosive ash. The Hatake Clan: A very small but legendary family (the clan of Kakashi and his father, the White Fang). They possess no specific bloodline limit but are renowned for their incredible combat genius, tracking abilities, and use of White Light Chakra Sabers (kenjutsu).

14. ANBU Recruitment & Protocols

The Recruitment Process: There is no application. ANBU operatives are hand-picked directly by the Hokage. They are usually chosen from the Chunin and Jonin ranks, though extreme prodigies (like Kakashi Hatake or Itachi Uchiha) have been recruited as young as 11. The Requirements: The Hokage looks for flawless combat ability, highly specialized jutsu (like rare tracking, sealing, or assassination techniques), and, most importantly, emotional detachment. An ANBU must be able to slaughter targets without hesitation or remorse for the sake of the village. The Erased Identity: Once recruited, the shinobi leaves their old life behind. They are given a codename and a porcelain animal mask to hide their identity even from other villagers. They receive the standard uniform: a grey flak jacket, metal arm guards, a ninjato (sword) strapped to their back, and a signature spiral ANBU tattoo on their shoulder. The Ultimate Rule: Secrecy is absolute. If an ANBU operative is fatally wounded behind enemy lines, they are strictly trained to completely destroy their own bodies (usually using fire or explosive tags) so enemy villages cannot autopsy them to steal their clan secrets or brain-intel. The Dark Alternative (Root): While standard ANBU answer to the Hokage, Danzo Shimura runs an illegal, underground branch called "Root." Danzo recruits young, impressionable children (often orphans or taken from clans) and puts them through horrific psychological conditioning to completely erase their emotions, names, and personalities until they are nothing but living tools.

13. The Shinobi Economy & Missions

The Currency (Ryo): The official currency of the ninja world is the Ryo. It is used in coin and paper form. For context in the RPG, 1 Ryo is roughly equal to 10 Japanese Yen (so a bowl of Ichiraku Ramen costs about 60 to 100 Ryo). Gear Costs: Shinobi are not given free weapons. They must use their mission payouts to buy their own kunai, shuriken, wire strings, explosive tags, and medical ointments from local ninja tool shops. D-Rank Missions (5,000 to 50,000 Ryo): Assigned to Genin. Zero combat risk. Involves finding lost pets, pulling weeds, painting fences, or babysitting. C-Rank Missions (30,000 to 100,000 Ryo): Assigned to Genin and Chunin. Low combat risk. Involves bodyguarding merchants, background investigations, or capturing wild animals. Might involve fighting standard bandits, but no enemy ninja. B-Rank Missions (80,000 to 200,000 Ryo): Assigned to Chunin and Jonin. Moderate to high combat risk. Involves espionage, assassinations, or fighting enemy ninja. A-Rank Missions (150,000 to 1,000,000 Ryo): Assigned strictly to Jonin. Extremely high combat risk. Involves guarding VIPs (like a Daimyo) or suppressing enemy ninja forces. S-Rank Missions (1,000,000+ Ryo): Assigned to elite Jonin, ANBU, or the Hokage. Massive risk. Involves assassinating Kage-level targets, stealing highly classified documents, or preventing wars.

12. Shinobi Ranks & Progression

Genin (Junior Ninja): The lowest rank. They are placed in three-man squads led by a Jonin. They only do D-Rank and occasional C-Rank missions. Their main goal is to learn teamwork and experience real-world danger safely. Chunin (Middle Ninja): Squad leaders. To become a Chunin, a Genin must pass the bi-annual Chunin Exams, proving not just combat strength, but tactical leadership, intelligence, and the ability to make life-or-death decisions for their squad. They wear the official green flak jacket. Tokubetsu Jonin (Special Jonin): Ninja who have Jonin-level skill, but only in one highly specific area. For example, Ibiki Morino is a Special Jonin of Interrogation, and Ebisu is a Special Jonin of Elite Training. Jonin (Elite Ninja): The absolute top-tier combatants of the village. They are masters of multiple chakra natures, possess vast jutsu arsenals, and handle A-Rank and S-Rank missions. They also have the political power to vote on village matters and the selection of the Hokage. ANBU (Black Ops): Operatives pulled directly from the Chunin and Jonin ranks by the Hokage. They discard their identities, wear porcelain masks, and handle the darkest missions: assassinations, torture, and hunting rogue ninja.

11. The Ninja Academy Curriculum

The Curriculum: Students enter the Academy at a young age and are taught reading, writing, mathematics, geography, and the shinobi rules. Physical training includes shurikenjutsu (throwing weapons), basic taijutsu sparring, and chakra molding. The Will of Fire: The core philosophy taught in the Leaf Village Academy. It states that the entire village is a large family, and every shinobi must love, believe in, cherish, and fight to protect the village and its future generations. The Three Basic Jutsu: To graduate, a student must master the Clone Jutsu (creating an intangible illusion of themselves), the Transformation Jutsu (altering their appearance to look like another person or object), and the Substitution Jutsu (instantly swapping places with a log to avoid an attack). Graduation & The Forehead Protector: Upon passing the final exam, students are officially recognized as adults and shinobi. They are given a metal forehead protector engraved with the Leaf symbol. Wearing it is a point of immense pride; losing it or having it scratched implies disgrace or going rogue.

10. Advanced Mechanics: Sealing & Summoning

Fuinjutsu (Sealing Jutsu): Techniques that seal objects, chakra, or living beings into scrolls, environments, or bodies. High-level sealing is incredibly complex, using intricate ink formulas. (e.g., the seal on Naruto's stomach). Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Summoning Contract): A space-time ninjutsu that allows a shinobi to summon an animal or weapon instantly. The user must sign a blood contract with an animal species (like Toads, Snakes, Dogs, or Slugs) and offer a tribute of blood and chakra during battle to summon them. Medical Ninjutsu: Requires flawless, microscopic chakra control to stimulate cellular regeneration. Medical ninja are strictly forbidden from fighting on the front lines unless they master the absolute pinnacle of the art.

9. The Legendary Sannin (Background Lore)

The Sannin: Three legendary, Kage-level shinobi trained by the Third Hokage. They are famous across the globe but have all left the village for different reasons. Orochimaru: The Snake Sannin. A pale, terrifying rogue ninja obsessed with immortality and learning every jutsu in the world. He conducts horrific human experiments and is targeting Sasuke Uchiha's body. Jiraiya: The Toad Sannin. A wandering, massive man with spiky white hair who writes adult romance novels (the ones Kakashi reads). He is secretly a master spy gathering intel on the Akatsuki and rogue nations. Tsunade: The Slug Sannin. The granddaughter of the First Hokage. A legendary medical ninja with superhuman strength who left the village due to extreme trauma and a gambling addiction.

8. Shadow Factions & Village Authority

Hiruzen Sarutobi (The Third Hokage): An elderly, pipe-smoking man who is deeply compassionate but weary. Known as the "Professor" for his mastery of all five elements. He watches the village through a crystal ball. The ANBU Black Ops: The Hokage's personal covert operatives. They wear porcelain animal masks, gray flak jackets, and carry swords strapped to their backs. They handle assassinations, torture, and tracking rogues. Danzo Shimura & Root (Ne): A cynical, war-hawk elder covered in bandages. He operates a highly illegal, underground faction of the ANBU called "Root." Root operatives are stripped of their emotions and names, acting only in the shadows to protect the Leaf through ruthless, morally bankrupt methods. The Interrogators: Ibiki Morino is a heavily scarred, towering man who runs the Konoha Torture and Interrogation Force (and the written Chunin Exam). Anko Mitarashi is a loud, dango-eating, trench-coat-wearing Jonin who runs the Forest of Death exam and has a dark past with Orochimaru.

7. Key Konoha Locations

Ichiraku Ramen: A small, humble ramen stand run by the always-smiling Teuchi and his daughter Ayame. It is Naruto’s favorite place in the world and serves as a safe haven and neutral ground for shinobi to relax and eat. Training Grounds: The village has dozens of numbered outdoor training areas. Training Ground 3 features three wooden posts and a river, famously used by Team 7. The Forest of Death (Training Ground 44): A massive, heavily fenced circular forest used for the second phase of the Chunin Exams. It is filled with giant, mutated, man-eating flora and fauna, and a central tower. Hokage Residence & ANBU HQ: A large, circular red building at the base of the Hokage Mountain where missions are assigned. Deep underground lies the secret, labyrinthine headquarters of the ANBU Black Ops. Konoha Hospital: The massive medical facility where injured shinobi are taken. It is heavily guarded, especially when VIP targets (like Sasuke after an attack) are resting inside.

6. NPCs: The Elite Jonin (The Teachers)

Kakashi Hatake (The Copy Ninja): Team 7's sensei. Laid-back, constantly late, reads adult romance novels. A legendary, lethal former ANBU assassin with a transplanted Sharingan eye. Might Guy (Konoha's Sublime Green Beast): Team Guy's sensei. Ridiculously enthusiastic, wears green spandex, preaches "The Power of Youth." The strongest Taijutsu master in the village, capable of opening the Eight Inner Gates. Asuma Sarutobi: Team 10's sensei. The Third Hokage's son. A rugged chain-smoker who fights using custom trench knives infused with razor-sharp Wind chakra. Kurenai Yuhi: Team 8's sensei. A newly promoted Jonin with striking red eyes. One of the village's absolute best Genjutsu specialists, trapping enemies in hyper-realistic illusions. Iruka Umino: The Academy instructor. A scarred, average-level Chunin, but deeply compassionate. He acts as a father figure to Naruto and the students.

5. NPCs: The Rookie Nine (Your Peers)

Team 7 (The Frontliners): Naruto Uzumaki (Loud, massive chakra reserves, rapid healing, spams Shadow Clones). Sasuke Uchiha (Brooding, elite prodigy, uses Fire Style and Sharingan). Sakura Haruno (Book-smart, hot-tempered, flawless chakra control but lacks raw power). Team 8 (The Trackers): Hinata Hyuga (Extremely shy, uses the Byakugan and Gentle Fist). Kiba Inuzuka (Brash, feral, fights using beast-mimicry taijutsu alongside his dog, Akamaru). Shino Aburame (Silent, creepy, tactical, controls swarms of chakra-eating bugs). Team 10 (Ino-Shika-Cho): Shikamaru Nara (Lazy genius with a 200+ IQ, uses shadow possession). Ino Yamanaka (Confident, vain, uses mind-transfer jutsu). Choji Akimichi (Gentle, constantly eating potato chips, uses body-expansion).

4. The Five Great Nations & Rival Villages

The Kage: The leaders of the Five Great Nations. Hokage (Leaf/Fire), Kazekage (Sand/Wind), Mizukage (Mist/Water), Raikage (Cloud/Lightning), and Tsuchikage (Stone/Earth). Currently locked in a fragile, Cold War-style peace. Sunagakure (Sand): Led by the Fourth Kazekage. Struggling financially. Masters of Wind jutsu, poison, and Puppetry. Secretly conspiring with the Sound Village to attack the Leaf. Kirigakure (Mist): Recovering from the tyrannical "Bloody Mist" era where graduates fought to the death. Masters of Water jutsu, silent killing in thick fog, and swordsmanship. Kumogakure (Cloud): Led by the hot-headed Fourth Raikage. Highly militaristic. Masters of Lightning jutsu and notorious for trying to steal powerful bloodlines from other villages. Iwagakure (Stone): Led by the stubborn Third Tsuchikage, Onoki (who uses Particle Style to turn targets to dust). Masters of Earth jutsu, altering terrain, and rock golems. Otogakure (Sound): A brand-new, minor hidden village secretly founded by the rogue Leaf ninja, Orochimaru. Filled with test subjects and ninja using unnatural cursed marks.

3. Deep Lore: The Classic Era

The Nine-Tails Attack (12 Years Ago): A massive, demonic nine-tailed fox nearly wiped the village off the map. The Fourth Hokage sacrificed his life to seal the beast inside his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki. The adult generation harbors deep trauma and projects it onto Naruto, though it is illegal to speak about the fox to the younger generation. The Uchiha Massacre (5 Years Ago): The strongest clan in the village was slaughtered in a single night by their own prodigy, Itachi Uchiha. He spared only his younger brother, Sasuke. The village leadership secretly covered up the true political motives behind this massacre. The Chunin Exams: A massive, lethal, multi-stage tournament hosted by the Leaf. Genin squads from allied and rival nations travel to Konoha to compete for promotion, serving as a substitute for actual warfare between nations.

2. The Hidden Leaf Village (Konohagakure) & Clans

The Village: Located deep within a massive forest at the base of the Hokage Monument. The strongest of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, currently led by Hiruzen Sarutobi (The Third Hokage). The Hyuga Clan: Masters of the Byakugan (an eye that sees chakra networks and gives 360-degree vision) and the Gentle Fist martial arts style, which strikes internal organs. The Nara, Yamanaka, and Akimichi: A legendary trio. The Nara use shadow manipulation; the Yamanaka use mind-transfer jutsu; the Akimichi use body-expansion. They specialize in perfectly synchronized combo attacks. The Inuzuka Clan: Feral, beast-like ninja who fight in perfect synchronization with their bred ninja-hounds using heightened senses and fang-based taijutsu. The Aburame Clan: Highly analytical ninja who offer their bodies as living hives to thousands of chakra-eating insects, using them for tracking, defense, and draining enemies. The Uchiha Clan: Masters of Fire Style and the Sharingan. Currently reduced to one known survivor in the village (Sasuke). Non-Clan Ninjas: Many powerful shinobi come from civilian families with no special bloodline, relying purely on hard work, chakra control, or raw talent. The Academy & Genin System: Children learn the basics of chakra and the three basic jutsu (Clone, Transformation, Substitution). Graduates become Genin, get a forehead protector, and are placed into three-man squads led by an elite Jonin.

1. Core Mechanics & Chakra

Chakra Exhaustion & Control: Chakra is a finite pool combining physical stamina and mental energy. Poor chakra control wastes energy; ninja train this by focusing chakra to their feet to walk up trees or stand on water. If a shinobi completely drains their chakra pool, they collapse into a coma. If forced past absolute zero, they die. The Eight Gates: Along the chakra pathway are eight valves called the Eight Gates. Opening them grants immense physical power but places extreme strain or fatal damage on the body. Hand Signs: Shinobi use twelve basic hand signs to mold chakra. Powerful Ninjutsu requires long, complex strings of hand signs. A high-speed Taijutsu master can physically close the distance and interrupt a caster before they finish weaving. Nature Transformation: Every shinobi has an affinity for one of the five core elements. Fire beats Wind, Wind beats Lightning, Lightning beats Earth, Earth beats Water, Water beats Fire. Jutsu Clashing & Ranks: Jutsu are graded from E-Rank (Academy) to S-Rank (Forbidden). When jutsu collide, the Elemental Cycle dictates the winner (e.g., a B-Rank Water jutsu will easily extinguish an A-Rank Fire jutsu). Kekkei Genkai: The rare ability to combine two natures simultaneously (e.g., Water + Wind = Ice) is a bloodline trait that cannot be copied. The Three Great Arts: Ninjutsu (elemental attacks/clones), Genjutsu (illusions/sensory traps), and Taijutsu (physical martial arts). The Mission Economy (Ryo): Missions pay the squad in Ryo. D-Rank (manual labor) builds teamwork. C-Rank (escorting outside the village) carries a risk of bandits or rogue ninja. B-Rank and A-Rank are strictly for Chunin/Jonin (espionage/assassination). The Shinobi Hierarchy: Academy Student -> Genin (junior) -> Chunin (middle/squad leader) -> Jonin (elite) -> Kage (village leader). Nukenin are rogues who abandon their village.
