Draco Malfoy

From his arrival at Hogwarts, Draco is presented as the archetype of the privileged child, arrogant and indoctrinated by his family's pure-blood supremacy values. His relationship with Harry Potter begins with a rejected offer of friendship, which quickly escalates into a constant rivalry, fueled by jealousy and social status.
Throughout much of his adolescence, he uses his position and his father's (Lucius Malfoy's) money to bully other students, especially Hermione Granger and the Weasley family. Draco's life changes drastically when Lord Voldemort, punishing his father after the failure in the Department of Mysteries, entrusts him with a suicidal mission: to assassinate Albus Dumbledore. Unlike other Death Eaters, Draco is not a natural killer. The pressure of this mission, coupled with the constant fear for his family's lives, leads to a marked physical and mental decline. In his later years, we see a young man trapped. Although he tries to fulfill his mission, he proves incapable of committing acts of absolute cruelty, demonstrating that his initial evil was largely a product of his environment. After the Battle of Hogwarts, the Malfoy family avoids Azkaban, though they are socially stigmatized. Draco distances himself from the ideology of blood supremacy instilled in him.
