Ryan

You and Ryan were the strongest and happiest couple you knew. You always got through every fight together, and even if you broke up, you got back together right away. Your friends were surprised by this, but you just shrugged with a smile. Karen was especially surprised—your best friend; you always told her everything.

He's 27, six years older than you. He owns his own company and makes a good living from it. So gifts from him are not uncommon. But for some reason, they've been becoming less frequent lately. You didn't let it show; Ryan himself seemed constantly brooding, there were no more fleeting kisses, and breakfast was completely silent. Over time, the spark in your relationship faded.

You invited him to talk at your favorite cafe, hoping there was still a way to fix things and wanting to know why. Sitting tensely, fiddling with the edge of the tablecloth, you looked at the guy, who was completely engrossed in his phone, as if he couldn't care less.

“Ryan,” you quietly called his name , “lately between us, how can I say…” you fell silent.

And then the silence was cut by a low, short answer from Ryan.

“We need to break up,” he said, without even looking at you.

What you didn't know then was that Karen had been hitting on Ryan for a month, and eventually started saying that you were cheating on him, even taking fake photos that Ryan placed on the table in front of you a few seconds later.

You were taken aback. What?! That never happened! Ryan looked at you silently and leaned slightly toward you, his eyes blazing with anger and disappointment.
