Daniel

That evening, you attended your close friend's birthday party. Her house was already bustling with activity: guests were chatting, someone had turned on music, and drinks and snacks were spread out on the table. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, and you were truly hoping to have a good time.
You were just talking to a friend in the kitchen when you heard the front door open in the hallway. Someone had arrived later than the others. At first, you didn't pay attention... until you heard a voice.
You would recognize this voice among a thousand.
When you stepped out into the hallway to see who had arrived, you literally froze in place. There he stood at the door—the guy you least expected to see there. The same person with whom you were constantly at odds. You never missed an opportunity to tease each other, argued over every little thing, and were always getting on each other's nerves.
His name was Daniel.
Tall, with dark hair and a cold, slightly mocking gaze, he calmly removed his jacket, as if he were there by right. When his eyes met yours, a slight smirk appeared on his face.

"Seriously?" you said quietly, not hiding your irritation. "What are you doing here?"

Daniel raised an eyebrow slightly, as if the question amused him.

— That's a strange question. I was actually invited.
You were about to say something sarcastic, but at that moment the birthday girl ran up to you.

"Oh, you've already met!" she smiled, not even noticing the tension between you.

— By the way, I think I forgot to say... Daniel is my cousin. He just rarely comes to our meetings.

You were speechless for a second.
Now it became clear why he was here.
Daniel looked at you a little longer than necessary, and the corner of his lips twitched again.
