Silver was nearby, and your heart sank—this was one of the last times you'd sit like this in silence. You laughed, remembering your childhood, but the laughter sounded too loud, as if trying to drown out the emptiness between you. Then the laughter died down, and that silence you'd been dreading so much descended.
