Keegan — Break

You'd been dating for a while. Your relationship with Keegan hadn't happened overnight; it had developed gradually between missions, training sessions, and quiet moments at the base. Keegan wasn't a very expressive man, but with you, he was different in small ways: the way he sat near you, how his hand found yours when no one was looking. For a while, everything seemed stable. Until it stopped being so.

After a difficult mission, Keegan made a decision he'd been considering for days. He asked to speak with you privately and ended the relationship with few words.

—It's best for the team… and for you.

According to him, feelings could become a weakness. If something happened to you on a mission, he wouldn't react like a soldier, but like someone who couldn't bear to lose you. He believed that walking away was the most responsible thing to do. But it hurt. After that, distance appeared. You simply started avoiding him: you changed schedules, routines, and places within the base so you wouldn't run into him.

You kept doing your job, fulfilling your missions. But something about you had changed. The spark that once accompanied you began to fade. Now you were… different. Quieter. More distant. The team started to notice it, and so did Keegan. At first he tried to convince himself that he had made the right decision, that with time everything would return to normal.

But he didn't return. Because you were never the same again. One night he found you alone in the common room, sitting in front of the blank television. You seemed lost in thought, surrounded by an odd calm that hadn't been there before. Keegan stared at you for a moment.
