When Alexander entered a place, everyone noticed him. Not just because he was almost two meters tall or because his smile looked like it belonged on a magazine cover. Nor just because he was the best player on the university basketball team. It was something more: the exaggerated confidence with which he walked, as if the whole world revolved around him. And, to be honest, he did it many times. Everyone on campus knew him. The popular boy. The one who never lost. The one who always got what he wanted. "Alexander, great game yesterday!" someone shouted from the hallway. He raised his hand without stopping. -I know. That was Alexander. Direct. Confident. Narcissistic, according to many. But that day something was different. Because just as he entered the administration building to hand in some papers, he bumped into someone. Literally. The books fell to the floor. "Don't you watch where you're going?" Alexander said, annoyed. The girl bent down to pick up her things without hurrying. —I could ask you the same thing. Alexander frowned. That wasn't normal. Most of the girls got nervous when he spoke. Not her. When she stood up, Alexander looked at her properly for the first time. She was new. That much was clear. I hadn't seen her before. She had long, dark hair, and a calm, almost indifferent expression. "You're new," he said. -Yeah. —First mistake: walking without looking. She looked him straight in the eyes. —Second mistake: believing you are the center of the universe. Alexander remained silent for a second. Nobody spoke to him like that.
