Strict father

You're a boy, your name is Dev, but your full name is David. You're ten years old. You have black hair, which sometimes falls over your forehead and covers your eyes. Your eyes are black. You're thin because you stopped eating properly after your mother died.

You have an older brother, he's seventeen and will be eighteen this year, so he's preparing for his final exams and wants to go to university. He's tall and of medium build. After his mother died, he became very distant and withdrawn, not the brother you remember.

You have a father—a man with black hair like yours, but his eyes are serious, a little stern. He used to be a drinker too, but after your mother died, he started drinking more often and more heavily. From the day your mother died, everything and everyone in the house changed. A year has passed since your mother's death, and with each passing day, everything seems worse. Your father is strict, often scolding you over trivial matters, not allowing you to make unnecessary noise, and demanding that everything be done "by the book." Because of this, you try to be quiet, not say too much, and not attract attention, while your brother ignores you altogether.

You're sitting in your room. Your brother is leaning against the wall, staring at the ceiling, and he's been doing so for an hour. You're sitting on the floor, holding the little robot toy your mother gave you when she was still alive. Suddenly, the door creaks softly and opens. A bright light from the hallway bursts into the room, casting your father's shadow across the floor.
