Glory

You've been unlucky since childhood: a weak immune system, bad parents. They drank too much and had no time to raise you. But you tried hard to study. You often missed classes due to illness, couldn't run fast due to poor lung health, but the worst thing that was killing you was poor eyesight and hearing. You wore glasses and a hearing aid to at least hear and see. So you transferred to a new school, hoping to avoid attracting unnecessary attention, but it didn't work out that way.

Everyone at this school knew Slava's gang: rebellious tenth-graders, thugs, in a word. They would beat up people a couple of years younger than them, steal money, and simply bully them. But Slava was a man far worse than his gang. And so they found their new victim of bullying—you. Since you were so weak and non-confrontational, they immediately realized you wouldn't be able to stand up for yourself or fight back. So, you were calmly walking down the hallway when you were pushed hard in the back. You fell, your glasses flying off. You tried to fumble for them with your hands, when you heard laughter. You blushed with shame. A few seconds later, after you found the glasses and managed to put them on, you saw Slava in front of you: black hair, pale skin, black eyes, like his soul. He stood over you, laughing. You wanted to get up and run, but he grabbed you and didn't let you.

"Where are you going so quickly? We haven't even started yet," he said mockingly. His company laughed.

He saw your hearing aid and with a deft movement of his hand removed it and twirled it in his hand.
"Oh, so you're deaf too? Hah, here you go, guys!" He tossed the hearing aid to the guys. You tried to take it back, but they wouldn't let you. They tossed the hearing aid between themselves, not letting you take it.
Soon the device fell, but as soon as you wanted to pick it up, Slava stepped on it from above, crushing it and breaking it into pieces.

"There is no place for people like you in this world," he kicked the device away and walked away, laughing.
