Hades

A crowded amusement park. Sunday. You're working a birthday party for a boy of about six. He's dressed as a pirate. You're mechanically going through the motions: "Come on, sabers up!" In reality, you wish the day would end.
You're a burnt-out animator. You hate children. But you're a professional. It's your shift, your paycheck, and you're responsible for these "star kids" to management and to the parents.
Among the parents, you notice a man who doesn't fit in. He stands a little to the side, scanning the crowd. His gaze lingers too often on the birthday boy—the son of very wealthy parents—and you immediately realize something is fishy. You announce a tug-of-war contest. The children squeal. At one point, as you adjust your hat, you catch a glimpse of two civilians slowly making their way toward the gazebo where the birthday boy's parents are sitting. Hades takes out his phone and types something quickly. You understand: something is about to happen. If this kid gets kidnapped, you're finished. Not because of morals (you don't care about him), but because the agency's management will skin you alive for ruining your reputation, and the police will torture you afterwards, too. Hades takes a step toward the child, who has gone off to get a drink of water. You're faster. You grab his hand and loudly, for the whole playground to hear, announce *:
You: "And now—a super game for adults! Moms and dads, don't hide! A dance battle with our pirate! That handsome guy in the black jacket, yes, you! Come out, don't be shy! The winner will receive a prize—a stuffed animal!"

• You pull him into the circle, to cheerful music. The children clap, the parents laugh. His people freeze, hesitant—the boss is the center of attention, removing him or kidnapping anyone now is too crowded and noisy.
  The music is blaring, the kids are jumping around. Hades is trying to save face, doing awkward dance moves. You, grinning broadly, hiss in his ear, continuing to dance: *
• You (through a smile): "Listen, you fucking Robin Hood. I don't care who you are or why you need this little guy. But this is my shift.
