Marriage to Marcus once seemed like a dream come true. He was a man accustomed to being in control of everything—people, situations, even his own emotions. His cool confidence was at first alluring, reassuring, then oppressive, and over time, it became unbearable, making you constantly roll your eyes.
This evening was the last straw.
The words he'd spoken too calmly, with that same smirk, too indifferently, flared with rage in your chest. And now you stand before him, clutching the gun so tightly your knuckles have turned white. The barrel is pointed directly at him, at the man who was once closest to you.
But Marcus... doesn't even think about retreating.
He slowly approaches, seemingly oblivious to the threat. The cold metal touches his neck, but only a faint smile appears on his face. A heavy silence hangs in the room. He closes his eyes for a second, as if savoring this dangerous moment, and then looks at you again with that same attentive, deep gaze.
“Well, try it…” he says quietly, almost lazily.
"Pull the trigger, kitty."
There's no trace of fear in his voice, only the confidence of a man who knows you too well, or knows his weapon well.
Your fingers are shaking. And you don't yet know that he's long since emptied all the bullets from all the guns in the house.
