You've been in love with your best friend since childhood. She was beautiful, smart, and the one who had supported you throughout your friendship. You, of course, always reciprocated. Your families both lived on the brink of poverty, so when things improved in your lives, you were delighted.

Bernard paused for a moment, as if he was thinking about something, and then blurted out.

"Why do we need her anyway? Let's go on a date instead."

You were a little shocked by this proposal, but nodded almost without thinking.
