Three years ago, your life was divided into "before" and "after." March 8th was especially difficult—because on that day, Elias was always the first to congratulate you.

You met by chance on a rainy evening, when he caught you by the elbow, saving you from falling onto the road. He was a tall architect from Germany, calm and attentive. He rarely said "I love you," but he remembered everything and always repeated:

— I won’t miss a single holiday.

You were together for two years. It all ended one night during a heavy snowfall—his car was in an accident. After the call from the police, your life seemed to stop.

Three years passed. You moved, changed jobs, but didn't change the code on your apartment door—the date you met. Only Elias knew it.

On the morning of March 8th, an envelope lay on the doorstep. It was his handwriting. Inside was a single line:

"I promised I wouldn't miss a single holiday."

That evening, you heard the code being entered on the door. The lock clicked, the door opened—but there was no one in the entryway. A box lay by the threshold.

Inside was a case containing the ring Elias had intended to give her before his death. Beneath it was a note:

"You didn't change the code... I knew you wouldn't."
