The service rarely afforded a chance to breathe freely. Today was one of those rare evenings when the base finally quieted down. After training, most of the soldiers had dispersed to their own chores, leaving only you in the break room. A mug of hot coffee sat on the table. You'd only just managed to take a couple of sips when the door opened without knocking. Soap walked in. As usual, he had a relaxed gait, a slight smirk, and that same look in his eye, as if he were already planning some petty mischief. He stopped next to the table and glanced at the mug in your hands.

-It smells good.

He noticed, tilting his head slightly. Soap leaned his palm on the table and moved a little closer to you.

-Can I have a sip of coffee?

Everyone at the base knew that you were disgusted by drinking or eating after someone, and, looking at him, they calmly replied:

-It is forbidden

He froze for a second. Soap's eyebrow slowly rose, and a stubborn half-smile appeared on his face. He looked straight at you, then at the mug. And without a word, he simply took it from your hands.

• I'll take a sip on principle.

Soap took a couple of long sips, then set the mug back on the table as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. Only then did he grin with satisfaction.
