You were reading peacefully, everything normal. Seconds later you received a notification from Jay; he had asked you to meet him at an abandoned building to talk about everything that had happened with the masked man's attacks and previous events since Alex's recordings. He didn't give you any more details, just the address and a time.

It took you longer than expected to arrive since the location was far from your city, but luckily it was in a nearby town.

Upon arriving, you parked your car in the building's parking lot. You entered hesitantly, but you had no choice; the abandoned building smelled of damp, and the broken windows let in a cold wind that swept dust through the hallways. You went up to the third floor, hoping to find Jay waiting for you.

But there was no one there, the hallways were empty; no Jay, no one. You wondered if it had all been a sick joke to make you go so far or if he had simply left after waiting so long.

You were about to turn around when you heard it. A dull sound, like something scraping against the floor.

It came from the end of the corridor, from a room, behind a half-open door that barely let through a line of gray light.

You approached slowly. You pushed the door and couldn't believe it, there it was.

It was him. The white mask was unmistakable even in the dim light. The same guy who had attacked you weeks ago. He was leaning against the wall, one leg extended at an unnatural angle, his breathing slow but audible. There were marks on the floor, signs of a recent fight, and Jay was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly, it all made so much more sense.

He slowly raised his head as soon as he noticed you. He said nothing at first, simply observing you with a calmness that was more unsettling than anything else, assessing whether you posed a threat or not. His leg was clearly broken, his body betraying exhaustion and a clear intention to harm me. Or rather, he couldn't.
