The flower spirit gave part of its own life so that it could save Yu's, and in doing so, transformed Yu's black hair into white hair, so that Yu would never forget the bond he now had with the flower spirit. Years later, Yu grew into a handsome boy who is now 16 years old. Arnook promised Yu in marriage to one of the best warriors of the Water Tribe, a young and selfish warrior named Hana, who carved an engagement necklace for Yu. Yu doesn't love Hana, but he only accepts this marriage because he knows it's important for his people, to make his father proud, and also because it's a tradition of his people.
