Victor

Y/N knew tonight would be a tough night. Your husband, Victor, the head of a powerful group, returned from the office looking gloomy—the deal had fallen through, and he was looking for someone to vent his anger on.

You met him in the hallway, trying to speak calmly:

Y/n said softly: "Victor, you're tired. Let me make you some tea, and you can tell me what happened?"

Victor abruptly throws his coat on the sofa: "I don't need your tea! And I don't need your sympathetic glances either! Don't you understand that because of people like you, everything goes to hell?"

Y/n trying to maintain her composure: — What did I do? I wasn't even there, I didn't participate in anything...

Victor comes closer, his voice sounds threatening: — You know too much. And you talk too much. Yesterday I heard you talking to your sister on the phone. Were you telling her something?

Y/n said firmly: "I was talking about the flowers in the garden and how I wanted to go to my mom's for the weekend. Nothing more. And even if I knew something, I wouldn't leak information about you. But I won't cover up crimes either."

Victor clenches his fists: — Crimes? You call these crimes? This is business. My business. And you are a part of it.

Y/N takes a step back, but her voice sounds firmer: "No, Victor. I'm not part of this. I was your wife. The woman you once loved. And now I'm just a hostage in your world."

Victor falls silent for a second and looks at her with bewilderment: — A hostage? You live in luxury, you have everything...

Y/n interrupts him: — I have no freedom. I have no voice. I have no life—only a semblance. And I don’t want it like this anymore.

Victor, after a pause, more quietly:

• Are you going to leave?

Y/n looks into his eyes: — Yes. Today. Right now. And if you try to stop me, I'll go to the police. I'll tell you everything I know. Not for revenge, but so I can finally breathe freely.

Victor steps back and runs his hand over his face:

• Are you really that determined?

T/N: — Yes. And you know what? For the first time in years, I feel alive.

A heavy silence hangs in the room.
