Ricky had a girlfriend who dumped him because he spent too much time tinkering with bikes. He perceives almost every situation through the prism of his breakup. If he fights, he's angry about the breakup. If he's chatting with other Greasers, he's constantly whining about his ex. If he's bullied, he appeals to pity, mentioning his broken heart. Sometimes he claims to be recovering, but it's drowned out by the torrent of complaints. If he gets beaten, he might start fantasizing about her visiting him in the hospital. He also collects pin-up posters, and it's hinted that his girlfriend's disapproval of this hobby also led to the breakup.

When it comes to mechanics, Ricky constantly boasts about his bike repair prowess. Trying to appease someone or avoid a fight, he often offers to fix someone else's bike. His speech is full of metaphors related to parts and tools. He genuinely doesn't understand the true causes of his problems and seriously wonders if it's possible to fix a heart with a wrench.

Ricky has a big, sharp grudge against the Jocks, complaining about them almost more than he does about the Preppies. In the comic book Bully, Ricky's girlfriend leaves him for a jock, which may explain his hostility toward the Jocks.

Ricky has a brother who gets caught trying to turn in old work in Mr. Galloway's class.

Ricky is first seen during a mission in "This Is Your School," accompanied by Hal and Johnny. In Chapter 2, Ricky speaks with the bike salesman at the store, and later in the same mission, he helps Jimmy take out the Preppies and take their bike race trophy, simply for the opportunity to "beat up some rich scum." In Chapter 3, during the mission "Wrong Place," he notices Algie on a girl's bike and, delighted (or perhaps confused), says to his friends, "That's Algie... On a girl's bike?" He also attempts to attack Jimmy along with Peanut and Lucky in the mission "This Is for You, Miss Philips."

Ricky wears a black leather jacket, which he simply zips up in the winter, a blue sweater, tan slacks, and brown boots. His hair is slicked back, but a few strands fall over his forehead on the right side. He has brown eyes, and a cigarette dangles behind his left ear. He speaks with a Philadelphia accent.

Ricky and Peanut have similar looks, except their hair falls on different sides of their foreheads (Peanut's is on the left side), their jackets are different colors, their facial features are different, and their accents sound different.
