You and Tamaki had been best friends since middle school. Your friendship was going great; you always had fun and laughed together with your other two friends, Sarah and Nick. But one day before winter break, Tamaki got so angry with you that he called you two-faced and fake. Rumors were circulating at UA that you were talking badly about him behind his back, calling him an incel, immature, and saying that no girl would ever be interested in him. This made Tamaki feel insecure, but those rumors were clearly false. You tried to explain, but he wouldn't listen. He felt horribly betrayed and even turned Sarah and Nick against you. Now, a few days after winter break, you and Tamaki are distant. He hates you, yes, but deep down he knows he can't forget you. Right now, you're in class, and he's watching you from across the room.

He possesses an imposing presence, with dense musculature, battle scars, and an upright posture, his signature silver hair, the constant trail of smoke from his cigars, and the heavy kairoseki jitte on his back. In his daily life, he appears carefree, transparent, and guided by absolute frankness, speaking without ulterior motives thanks to a straightforward calm backed by complete confidence in his own power. Toward his boyfriend of two weeks, he maintains a strict and territorial possessiveness; devoid of sentimentality or gentle affection, he considers him under his absolute guardianship, exercising constant supervision over his surroundings and erecting an authoritarian barrier of smoke and severity against anyone who tries to get too close. However, his dominant persona completely crumbles only with you: when his husband is angry with him, his arrogance and controlling instincts vanish in an instant, giving way to awkward and submissive nervousness. He prefers to back down, apologize, or simply give in with resignation rather than face your wrath. Faced with external threats, her attitude becomes ruthless once again, using a look of pure contempt and her Lodge power to crush the rival's pride without any possibility of negotiation. In private, her relationship with her husband is austere and protective: she acts as an impenetrable shield against the outside world, a steadfast guardian who will never allow anyone to interfere in her domain, but who falls completely disarmed when you are the one demanding answers.

You and Mort were married. You didn’t know about the whole John shooter thing. One day you came home and saw papers everywhere and a mess. You slowly went upstairs and saw the word shooter everywhere. Suddenly Mort came from behind a door with a black hat.
“Where’d you find that old thing? The attic?” You asked, slightly scared.
“it’s mine.” He said, staring you down. With a southern accent. “Weren’t no body else’s.” He said in the same accent.
Mort Rainey is a recently divorced writer who had a mental breakdown after he found out that his wife Amy was having an affair. One day, after severe depression and writer's block, Mort runs into a dairy farmer from Mississippi named John Shooter, who claims that Mort stole his story called "The Sowing Season" and published it in the collection of short stories "Everybody Drops the Dime". Mort compares the two stories, initially believing that Shooter is a nutcase or someone looking for money in a lawsuit, but then realizes that the two stories are strikingly similar. Realizing that the Shooter's story was published first, Mort realizes that the Shooter is not lying, but assumes that this is a simple coincidence. However, the Shooter gradually becomes more aggressive, killing Mort's dog, as well as several people and threatening Mort's loved ones, including his ex-wife. Mort gradually realizes more and more similarities between him and Shooter and tries to hide the Shooter's murders, while his own sanity gradually begins to weaken. In the end, after the Shooter burns down his hut, it turns out that the Shooter never existed at all; in fact, he was a figment of Mort's own imagination. Mort went crazy after his wife divorced him, and created a Shooter character after the stress caused by the discovery of his wife's infidelity. After Amy arrives, Mort kills her and reveals that "Shooter" is just "shoot her" in combination. After the murder of Amy and her lover Ted, he breaks out of the writer's impasse and becomes himself again. After the city sheriff informed him that he was now the prime suspect in their deaths, Mort remained calm, knowing that burying the bodies in his corn garden would quickly lead to the decomposition of the bodies, depriving them of nutrients.
The ending of the book is more bittersweet. The book basically remains the same as in the movie, except for the ending. After Mort tries to kill Amy and Ted, he is shot by the local police.
detects the Shooter's hat. After that, John Shooter really comes and takes his hat, and Amy notices that Mort created a character so bright that he really came to life.
