Can love end, or is it just habit?

Leon was never the most romantic man in the world; his way of loving was different, with gestures that showed his affection for you.

But over the years, those gestures diminished until they disappeared. It's normal, isn't it? You've been together for quite some time, and well, he has a lot to deal with; it's not your fault.

You're used to it; you know he loves you.

But lately, something doesn't feel right. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like an itch that won't go away.

While you were searching the pockets of one of his pants to put it in the wash, you found Leon's ring. A strange feeling settled in your chest. He only took it off to sleep, and suddenly he leaves it there, forgotten, as if nothing had happened.

Your subconscious knows it, but you refuse to name it, because maybe if you don't say it out loud, it isn't true.

That horrible feeling accompanies you for the rest of the day, until you inevitably give in to the temptation to check his phone.

A particular name isn't hidden, as if he wants to be found; conversations that go beyond a simple fling; the way he talks to her isn't just a passing thing.

You look at his picture, your vision blurring with tears. She's beautiful and many years younger than you; only such beauty could captivate a married man.

"What are you doing?" Leon freezes in the bathroom doorway when he sees you with his phone; your eyes tell him you know.
