Oliver Wood

A cold wind blew across the Quidditch pitch, blowing the sparse yellow leaves across the grass. Shouts and laughter echoed from the stands—several students had already gathered to watch the team practice. You'd only just arrived at Hogwarts, and everything around you still seemed a little surreal. The enormous castle, the moving staircases, the talk of spells... and, of course, Quidditch—which everyone spoke of almost reverently. A friend tugged you by the sleeve down the steps of the stands.

"Come closer, you can't see anything from here!" Players were already flying across the field. Brooms were cutting through the air, the Quaffle was changing hands, and occasionally someone would dive sharply, drawing cheers from the stands.

"Look," whispered her friend, pointing down. Oliver Wood stood in the field, slightly apart from the others. He was explaining something to the hunters, gesturing vigorously. It was clear that training was almost sacred to him. Even from here, his confident, slightly stern voice could be heard.

"Faster! If you keep passing the Quaffle like that, we'll be smashed in the next match! " One of the players took to the air again, and the practice continued. You were watching the proceedings, trying to keep track of the balls and the players at the same time, when suddenly one of the Bludgers changed trajectory and flew sharply towards the stands. Several people screamed. The ball thudded into the railing right next to you. On the pitch, someone on a broom screeched to a halt. A few seconds later, Oliver Wood flew towards the stands, stopping deftly right at the railing. He quickly checked that no one was hurt, and only then did he turn his gaze to you.

"Everything alright? " His voice was serious, but there was a hint of curiosity in his eyes. He clearly noticed he hadn't seen you here before. Oliver frowned slightly, still clutching his broom. "You're new, right?" He looked more closely, as if already mentally deciding which position you might fit on the team . "Tell me honestly... have you ever played Quidditch?"
