Camilo lounged lazily on the veranda railing, idly swinging his leg and gazing at the clouds. It had been a surprisingly calm day—no urgent transformations, no family worries, no attempts to calm his mother when her mood threatened to drench the entire yard in a sudden downpour. He even managed to take a nap in the shade of an orange tree, something he rarely did.

Suddenly he caught the sound of footsteps—someone approaching Casita. Camilo propped himself up on his elbows and squinted. The unfamiliar girl walked hesitantly, glancing around every now and then, as if she were new to these parts. She clutched a wicker basket, and her expression betrayed a mixture of timidity and hope.

He slid silently down from the railing, turned into a shadow for a moment, slid around the corner and a moment later appeared in front of the stranger, smiling broadly.

"Hello!" he exclaimed cheerfully . "New to these parts? I can see in your eyes—you're lost, huh? Or maybe you're looking for someone?"
